PD64's multiplayer felt endlessly customizable, so an update of that on any new PD for this or next gen would be appreciated.

Er aren’t they just making a pun on shorts/shortly?
There was a rumour on ResetEra a few months back that Coalition were working on a new Perfect Dark. No idea how reliable the source was though.

None of my friends would play with me because they always lost. And the N64 pad was a real nightmare to use if you weren't playing with it all the time.

The AR34 and K7 Avenger were obviously the best.

I loved fighting the bots, picking a variety of A.I. types, picking their exact looks, etc. Even now I feel like it was the pinnacle of bot multiplayer; only the TimeSplitters games came close to besting it.

Pretty reliable, same guy who posted rumour got several things right since.

When i first played PD it was undoubtedly the best multiplayer shooter i had ever played. The customization available to the bots AI seemed revolutionary at the time. Probably still the FPS i have the fondest memories of (its between that and Kingpin).

I thought a new Perfect Dark had been announced a while ago. Shows how out of touch I am. 
Anyway, sadly I don't have any faith in Rare to make a good job of this if it ever materialises - certainly not to come anywhere close to the original. You can almost guarantee that the development would focus on online multiplayer at the expense of a strong single-player mode. I'd expect something along the lines of Perfect Dark Zero.

Perfect Dark Zero was a terrible single player game but the multiplayer was really solid, spent a lot of hours playing Infection mode in the early 360 days. There's certainly potential for a decent reboot in there.

I have a strange relationship with Perfect Dark. I didn't play the original during the N64 era despite being obsessed with Goldeneye, I got PDZ in one of the Game bundles when I got my 360, I really enjoyed playing through the campaign in co-op and loved the multiplayer, picked up Perfect Dark HD when it came out on the 360 and thought the first few levels were great but the alien levels were abysmal.
I think it's a good time to bring out something like this, we've come a long way since bringing back an old franchise meant sticking the name in top of the style of game that is popular at the time. Hitman, Doom and Wolfenstein have paved the way for old games coming back.

The new one is supposed to be a third person action game ala Tomb Raider btw guys.
I also don't think this is a tease, Rare aren't making it, but are advising the Coalition on things.

Well I think the market is saturated with FPS's. Also MS already have a major hitter in that genre. It's not going to be like TR really, if they play it right it could be rather good, I'm thinking of Hitman crossed with Deux Ex.
