I'm sure Sony are also pleased in the sense that it's a platformer and it bodes well for a rebooted Crash Bandicoot - where everyone has just conveniently forgotten about all the horrible Activision games - and Jak and Daxter.

Rascal 2 here we come!

I caved it yesterday for £27 and I played it last night. It's really jolly to play and I never had an opportunity to play the original back then.

I read a lot of people saying that they were worried it wouldn't sell well. I'm glad it has because I want more...

Has it sold well though? People buying games on GR isn't always a good indication of how well games have sold in general.

We hardly ever get actual sales numbers, but it seems to have done okay. Eurogamer says "it now has the highest UK launch sales of the series by some margin. It has tripled the release week total of the franchise's previous best release week, for Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time on PS3." I like 3D platformers and so I'm glad to see a decent one making waves in the charts.

Loved A Crack in Time. £30 is a nice price, might need to get this and try beat it before Uncharted. Looks like good fun, something which lacks a lot of games these days.

I never thought I'd be saying this but this is probably up there as one of my games of the year so far.

Beat it yesterday and I agree. I want more of this style of game.

Oh, and there's a sound profile available for the Gold headset.

I was hoping so, the audio is oddly quiet in this game.

I'm on the fence as to whether I want more of this type of game. A few years back, you couldn't buy a game that wasn't a third person action platformer and the number of animal based main characters was ridiculous. I think that saturated market was probably why something like Ratchet and Clank now seems like a breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying it and it's a great game, but I'd be concerned that this might start a run of sub standard imitations. Another R&C though in about a year or so, then count me in.

There's not much evidence that many of these are in the making though. As you say, if this is enough to get another R&C then I'm happy.

The film's out this Friday, incidentally. Only early-ish showings in most cinemas and I'd guess only a week-long run. So am going to see it on Bank Holiday Monday morning.

Started this tonight and played up to the hoverboard race, this is pure fun! It looks gorgeous and plays wonderfully, been waiting for a game like this for a while and I too want to see them carry on and make more R&C.

Just discovered the joy of the proton drum. Nothing quite beats finding a room full of those green slimes and then going Groovitron, Mr Zurkon, Proton drum then a couple of bouncers and just sitting back and watching the carnage/particle effects.

such a great game, finished it on hard. now playing through again on challenge mode.

mine came with the Bouncer weapon and it is stupidly overpowered to the point you just launch a couple into a new area that the weapon is most suitable to use in and it destroys everything.

my only real problem was dying multiple times when trying to get out of the sewer. oddly, on challenge mode i got out first time.

Trying to get all of the trophies will be a bit of a slog, I reckon. Still, challenge mode is fun. I wish you could buy armour in this too. Ah well, a new skin makes it look like it's different.
