I'm a bit mixed on all the conferences really. Microsoft clearly held back (I can understand saving things for the next big convention, but tease us more for the future). Gears 4 (looking very much how I'd want a current generation Resident Evil entry to look), and Hololens ( ) were easily the highlights. Sony seemingly prioritised third party publishers over much of their own wares, and largely focused on a period very far away. Highlights from Sony for me, The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4. 2016 seems the year Sony's parties will finally deliver on the promise of the console. Nintendo were as adorable as ever, but also as infuriatingly confounding. Starfox looked like a GameCube game being emulated via Dolphin, and the Metroid reveal undoubtedly reduced many a man-baby to tears. My highlight from Nintendo can be quite simply summed up as 'Muppets'. Incidentally, muppets are also my low point, albeit the muppets running Nintendo.

No one really won it for me.

And what happened to Level 5's new PS4 RPG? I was really looking forward to that, and Level 5 seemingly wanted to show it at E3. :x

Sony - 10
MS - 6 or 7
Nintendo - 5

Doesn't seem to have been too many embarrassing moments this year. Might watch the EA one just out of curiosity for how bad it apparently is.

Is someone going to do a Game of the Show thread?

EDIT - If anyone is thinking of doing this, I think there needs to be a nominations topic first.

The PCGS wasn't that bad actually. If you take out the AMD advert sections then it was good. Very different from the other conferences, some announcements but mostly stuff already known so it was devs sitting down and going into greater detail instead of just showing a CGI trailer.

The only decent AMD bit was when the women was out trying to pimp their new dual GPU card and that daft looking pyramid thing. Crowd really wasn't buying any of her gooseberry fool because AMD have been bollocks for years now. She walks off but her mic is still live and says "oh well at least I got it done" in defeat. The first bit of truth from AMD in a long time.

I don't think it really worked, you get all that going into detail from having devs on shows talking about their game, in a press conference it doesn't work.

Like I said in the topic, I swapped to watching the Divinity Original Sin devs showing off their game on the Gametrailers feed which was much more interesting than anything I saw in the PCG conference, there was back and forth discussion, the guys showing it off told some really cool stories and generally seemed engaged, rather than what I saw at the conference which was anything but engaging.

It really wasn't a press conference at all.

Ok then show. Whatever you call it, it wasn't particularly exciting nor particularly engaging.

I'm moving Nintendo down to a 3. The more I think about their show, the more frustrated I get.

A guy in the equivalent GAF thread said this.

Nintendo: A-, I'm not personally interested in Nintendo, but it was a very entertaining conference that held my attention the whole way through

Scary stuff.

Nooo, no.

Actually no. Surprising but not my personal game of the show.

I'm not 100% sure but it may....it might actually be Doom.

Having finally caught up with all the conferences and stuff I'd have to say.

Sony: B+ - Some excellent reveals, but nothing that terribly excited me. If they hadn't had the LG, FF7 and Shenmue III bombs to drop it would have been fairly disappointing.

Microsoft: B - Again some nice reveals, but still nothing that's sold the system to me.

EA: F - Go to the back of the class and think about what you did.

Ubisoft: B- - Much better than I expected. South Park probably the most welcome surprise I've had all E3, R6: Siege looking damn good and The Division still has my attention for the moment.

Bethesda: B+ - For their first show I thought it was excellent. Some good demos of games I'm interested in. I'm glad they really spent some time on Doom and Fallout while they peppered their other games around them.

Square Enix: C- - Amateurish and just didn't flow well. Nothing interested me that we didn't already know about or get more detail about elsewhere. Must do better.

PC: C+ - For a first attempt I thought it was alright. There's definitely room to improve though. While I liked the format and Day9 (Though I can tell he's a marmite guy) I felt it was too long, lacked gameplay and needed far more live demos. It's a good base to build from and hopefully they can tweak it for next year. Plus it was a nice change from the standard conferences.

Nintendo: C+ - Ah Nintendo.... I liked the Muppet links. Starfox looked like, well.... Starfox (Not impressed with the graphics though). Little of interest really. Mario Maker was easily the highlight. I can only assume that a proper Metroid game is being readied for NX at this point. This feels very much like a stop gap year. Where was this years Splatoon?

So overall it's been a strange E3 so far. For me the best surprise has been South Park. :?
