Such a frustrating game. The setting is so well realised, the game looks and feels just perfect. Alien invasion type stuff is pretty commonplace in videogames but this is just perfect visually. Reminds me a lot of Another World and Flashback, that kind of vibe.

But oh my word there's so much wrong with the actual gameplay. Puzzles which are incredibly obtuse. Platforming sections where the handling of your character goes awry, or the camera pans to the wrong place, or it requires timing that really shouldn't be necessary in a game like this. And don't get me started on the ending of the game, where for some reason it turns into some arthouse bullshit which ruins everything that came before. Really disappointing, and difficult to really recommend.

5/10

Tomb Raider Repainted

Enjoyed that just as much back in Xmas 1996 & the mid 200’s Anniversary edition.
Controls where fine, just took a bit of getting used to again & my only gripe is the camera angles could be awkward.

Will do Tomb Raider II some other time as I don’t want to feel burnt out.

5/5

Thinking might start Terminator : Resistance next

Abzu (Switch) - 6/10
Moreso an experience than a game, as the gaming is light and the puzzles simplistic. However, it looks stunning and it's worth a playthrough if looking a short, chill experience that's easy to relax into.

Same and same :slol:

I think it's the optimum way of playing it.

Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster - 7/10
Loses some marks for shite direction, otherwise very solid first entry into the saga. Had lot of fun recongising some of enemies/names/locations I've seen in FF14.
Final Fantasy II Pixel Remaster - 8/10
Lack of GBA extra mode does suck, but otherwise solid! I really like the characters a lot in this, and I thought building stats up via different means was really cool to see. There's some iffy bits (like sometimes it doesn't make it clear where to go next) and it being first one in series having missable stuff which always sucked, but I had lot more enjoyment out of this than first game.
Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster - 8/10
Deffo my favourite 2D Final Fantasy so far -- I really like customation, the locations, boss fights and the story was fun to follow along. The lack of save points made last dungeon so brutal though, like if you don't use autosave/quicksave and you die you're losing lot of progress... but yeah, enjoyed this lot more than I thought I would've!

Hey, Seven, I know that you're a huge fan of FF XIV and so it's great to see you go back and tackle these origins of the franchise. It seems that you're having a great time with them, too.

Need to get the FF1-6 collection but man it’s so expensive on PSN.

I've played 1 and 2 on GBA not too long ago and did give others a try but wasn't really in mood at the time. Then I suddenly had urge to go through them especially as pixel remaster offers boosts (which I used fo 1/2 as I've finished these on GBA) and no encounter toggle (main reason I wanted them haha). Plus it's first time we're able to play Final Fantasy III in both english *and* 2D as only other options back then was to play 3D version which has lot of differences to 2D version.

I also want to finally beat FF9 once, too. Don't think I'll Platinum it (considering it has batshit crazy trophies) but I do say its my favourite FF so would be nice if I actually beat it, lol.

Just finished Dead Island 2 and it was really good.

A great game for Gamepass as I doubt I'd have played it.

9/10

Loses a point for not being in space.

Deus Ex Human Revolution (Steam Deck).

I loved the first few hours of this, but my interest did wane towards the end. It felt like it was a bit too long (28 hours) and most of the environments were very repetitive. All in all it was very good though, and some of the upgrades were a lot of fun. I'm hoping Mankind Divided improves upon this very respectable effort.

Red Dead Redemption - 9.5/10

I still think this is the best game from Rockstar I've played, shame Undead Nightmare lost its way a little towards the end but I think how unbelievably good some DLC are these days makes older DLC look worse by comparison.

Final Fantasty 4 Pixel Remaster - 8/10

I wasn't sure if 8 is right score as I feel some of it was bit annoying to deal with, like losing my AoE when Cecil transformed into Paladin sometime in the game and having to put up with a mage that only can have max MP of 90 no matter how high level he is made things bit cumbersome. That being said, it is excellent in terms of story and characters and I really enjoyed watching the events fold as I go through the game. Also first one to introduce ATB system, which did make Final Fantasy feel bit more engaging (though I'd forget about it one point when looking at PC and only notice I saw my party was wiped out because I didn't pause, oops!)

Final Fantasy 5 Pixel Remaster - 9/10

I know I said this is 9 and FF3 is 8 but I think I prefer FF3 due to be able to name the characters so I could roleplay as myself and three of my friends and just goof around with them on Discord, so that would play into it. But that aside, FFV is deffo much superior to 3 in terms of variety of jobs that has abilities, each mage feels differently to each other and it was also first one to have Blue Mage (be able to learn enemy skills) which I had lot of fun.

It also has story that made me laugh a lot, due to how non serious it can. But it does have serious moments where it really hits hard, and I think as whole the game is fantastic. My only downside is it can be rather brutal at times

Mankind divided felt like it ended too soon so probably perfect for you. It’s also fantastic.

Metroid Fusion - 10/10

Even after all these years, revisiting this every so often, it's remarkable how fresh it still feels, the tension created just by the echoing of the SA-X's footsteps. Just perfect.

Terminator : Resistance

Not perfect but a whole better than that shite Terminator Genesis film. I can’t believe I paid to see that. I still feel robbed.

Main menu theme is fire, good gameplay, terminators are hard to kill but I got some cool weapons like a electric butter knife to stab their metallic bitch asses, I got to meet John Connor & got it on with Patrick’s surrogate / foster sister. I’m your daddy now, sunshine :capnscotty: .

Going to give this a solid 3/5

I found myself in a bit of a rut starting games but not finishing them lately but got a couple of games finished in the past couple of days, A Little to the Left and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.

A Little to the Left was a fun and very chilled out puzzle game where you need to tidy up objects while occasionally being harassed by a mischievous cat. Each stage usually has a rule to the tidying like putting things in size order but as the game progresses it gets more complex with stages having multiple solutions. Loads of content outside the main campaign to be getting on with too as there are daily puzzles with an archive of all previous ones. 8/10

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. After beating Ninja Gaiden Sigma a few years back I thought it was time to finally tackle the sequel. I originally played this on 360 and got stuck about 3 or 4 levels in so finally getting it done was very satisfying.

Strangely for such a difficult game much like it’s predecessor it kinda gets easier as it goes on with the final boss proving no problem at all. Maybe it’s because you are more tooled up or maybe because you are better at the game by the end, who knows? Anyway I really enjoyed this despite some frustration and it was great ticking it off the list of games I gave up on 8/10

We've started dead island 2 based on this recommendation and we're really enjoying it so far. As you say, we wouldn't have given it a second look if it wasn't on gamepass.

I really enjoyed Dead Island 2 for the first 10 hours or so, but after that it got a bit too repetitive for me. Definitely had some fun with it though.
