Resident Evil (Gamecube) - 8/10

+ Looks really good (still)
+ Nice atmosphere
+ I enjoyed the puzzles/working out where to go

- Controls are annoying
- Save system is annoying
- Zombies are gooseberry fool

Enjoyed what was my first playthrough of it, but I have absolutely no inclination to go through again getting other endings or using different characters.

Yeah, I can see that the massive range of missions were a little repetitive, Salad, and I suspect that the approach may not appeal to everyone. For me, it became an addiction - I just had to search everywhere and collect everything! In recent years I've rarely stuck with a game but I was totally engrossed with Max.

I enjoyed it better than Fallout 4.........

Well, not even the same type of game but a better post apocalyptic experience.

Super Ghouls N Ghosts 8/10 Great game, and I didn't find it too tough, compared to the NES original, anyway. Loses a couple of points for some pretty crummy slowdown, and a mode 7 level which made me feel a little ill.

Hitman Go on iOS - Now this is how a mobile game should be; simple but challenging gameplay, great production values, no "bag of coins" and packed full of fun. Excellent! 8/10.

Downwell - 9/10

I loved this. It has that 'one more go' quality to it. I killed the last boss after about 6 hours of getting pretty close to doing it. Can't see myself attempting hard mode again, I tried it once and it is absolutely furious! Real gem of a game.

Harvest Moon SNES 6/10 The one that started it all isn't too much different to the new titles that still come out now. Though there is a lot less to do, so midway through year 2 I'd seen it all.

Game 17 - Picross e [3DS] ★★★
It's Picross. The interface is pretty sweet, and the highlighting of rows that you can figure something out about is a great, well thought-out shortcut that I now kind of wish was available for all logic puzzles. Every 5th puzzle removed this feature and it really made the experience grind to a halt as a result. So for the most part, this game was an enjoyable little diversion, but I eventually just got a little fed up of it. I'd be okay if I never did another Picross puzzle in my life.

Game 18 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [PC] ★★★★★
Outstanding. CD Projekt Red have created a massive world packed with a richness of depth and detail that is just insane. The main storyline itself is epic and gripping, but the real stars of the show are the magnificent sidequests, which are surprisingly developed. They are thoughtfully written and just as involving as the main story itself. It's rare to see a game with as much content and things to do as this, but to have as much quality content as The Witcher 3 is completely unprecedented. It just feels so... generous? Particularly in recent years. It's not perfect, though. The combat is just kind of there. Inoffensive, but nothing to write home about. And the final act loses a lot of the polish of the earlier sections, which I'd put down to the branching scenarios at that point. Nevertheless, it gave me 70 fantastic hours of adventuring, backed by a mature fantasy plot and a fantastic cast of characters. One of my favourite games ever.

Not a game as such but I just finished Far Harbour in Fallout 4 and I thoroughly enjoyed it bar the bit where it tries to be a puzzle game.

I really should get round to starting this. Bought it about 6mths ago :fp:

Is the Witcher like Dark Souls?

Not really. It's closer to Dragon Age than Dark Souls, but, y'know, *good*.

You spend your time traveling the lands, taking on contract work, hunting monsters and generally getting up in people's business. Lengthy conversations and dabbling in a little politics and detective work here and there. And playing a cool in-world CCG.

Rise of the Tomb Raider - Xbone

Great visuals marred by slightly choppy framerate, good movement/combat mechanics marred by providing too many tools for the job and pointless skills/unlock systems. Great digital performanced marred by an uninteresting and rote plot.

Lara constantly talks with this breathy earnestness which gets old very quickly. Also she still marvels at all this supernatural stuff having forgotten about everything in the first game. It all went along better if i assumed the game is related to Assassin's Creed; Trinity are the Templars, the prophet is a sage and all the ancient stuff is First Civilisation.

A well-made but largely uninspiring action game. I don't care enough to 100% or do the dlc, time to move on.

7/10

Uncharted: A Thiefs End 9/10

Best of the series and really made up for 3 being so poor. Some of the set pieces are just amazing, traversal is better but more variety needed, first rate script and acting, looks amazing but at times maybe its troubled dev shows up a bit as not all the bgs look as good as others. The thing that lets it down as with all the others in the series is the combat, still feels clunky, you stick to cover when you don't want to and the enemy design is as bad as ever with little variety and they are just bullet sponges with no real AI, no real skill tactics needed to take them down as its just sheer numbers that overwhelm you. Some of the scenes did start to feel a bit rinse repeat by the end but overall its a game that stands out and is one of the best in class in the genre and a fitting end to the series.

Kirby's Dream Course 6/10 Fun crazy golf game, but it expects a lot from you in regards to difficulty and technique. Maybe a bit too much.

Tomb Raider - Definitive Edition PS4 - 8/10.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, levels were well designed and enjoyable, combat was fun, but the story seemed to drag at the end though (what is it with adding supernatural elements towards the end of games!). Couldn't be bothered to try multi-player either. Looking forward to playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on XB1.

Uncharted 4. 9/10
Played through numerous times now, game looks fantastic and story is great.

Niggling parts are the running out of the screen (including the Crash level) and the stupid boxes with wheels on that appear in the stupidest.... of places. The damn things just annoy more with every play through.

Binary Domain - PC

A solid third person shooter with unfortunately terrible mouse+keyboard controls so had to use a pad, which became easier over time. I've had this kicking around for ages and finally got round to it, and it's really good. Blasting the robots to bits and seeing shards of scrap flying all over the place is satisfying, and the bosses were pretty good too, I particularly liked the massive gold biker bot thing, although I would have loved to have been on the design committee for that.

Its a bit dated visually and some of the environments are quite bland, and my interest was beginning to fall off in the middle section but the ending section more than redeemed it. It ends on something of a cliff-hangar and sets up for a sequel in an interesting way, however given how long ago it came out with no news, coupled with low sales, means that I imagine it will never happen, which is a shame. It is also coupled with a now-dead and pointless multiplayer, a feature of many games of its era; I feel that the time and effort spent on that could have gone elsewhere.

8/10

Fallout 4: Far Harbour (PC) [7]

A sizeable expansion to the main game which is worth the asking price for those (like me) who are still keen to level-up their character. The setting is pretty interesting (although the fog effects destroy my fps for some reason) and the new weapons, enemies and armour sets are welcome additions. You're given meaningful options this time around which impact on the outcome of the story (as they should in a RPG). I chose to try to carve a moderate line between the three main factions (all of which have a nasty side to them so nothing is clear-cut). As such, they're all still existing on Far Harbour at the end of my play through!

Uncharted Waters New Horizons 6/10 Fun little sea travelling RPG. A bit dated and simplistic, but it can be pretty addictive when you mapping the world and trading big deals.

Dawn of War - 8/10

I'm not very good at strategy games, but that was really great. I love the fact that you have to be always on the assault and fortifying positions. And the Hellfire mech  I played it for 7 hours yesterday :fp:

It's also a universe that I don't really know much about, and it seemed really brutal and ridiculously badass. I kinda got the impression that the Space Marine faction is basically made up of space nazis. Graphics were a little outdated, but I bunged on some AA via my nvidia setup and it cleaned up rightly.

Eager to try the expansion campaigns now. Buying these on the Humble store was an absolute steal. I want to try that sequel as well, I hear it's not as good as this one, but I would still like to give it a go.
