Wario Ware Touched! 7/10 Still a fun collection, even with the touch screen novelty being long gone, though I wonder who thought it was a good idea to put all the blowing into the mic minigames into one section?

Mega Man Battle Network 6/10 Interesting concept, maybe one of the five sequels the game has will make it feel wholesome?

Asterix on Master System. Carrying on with the retro theme here is another game from childhood that I never finished. This is a really good platformer, it still plays well and looks fantastic for the time. The levels are a little brief but often require a little exploration so it's not really an issue.

9/10

Persona Dancing All Night - 7/10

Good but story goes on a bit and the end just let it down for me. Easy platinum too and nothing for completing dancing all night difficulty

PLAY | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [92h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S2, HiJack S1, The Apprentice S18
RACE | Westonbirt Half (March), Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

Truxton on Mega Drive. An okay shooter but it gets quite hard quickly, it doesn't help when one of your weapons makes it really difficult to see (and more importantly avoid) a lot of enemy fire. Only 5 levels but as I said with Zero Wing I doubt I'd have the patience for it without save states.

Yakuza 6 Main Story 9/10

Just wonderful to play through in every way and there's still hundereds of things for me to do. Most of the characters were fantastic, with Beat Takeshi's Oyassan being a highlight. Only downside was the final boss. Outside of that, simply amazing story to play through and had me hooked from the beginning.

Shaq Fu on Mega Drive. I've heard so many bad things about this game yet never played it myself so in a bout of morbid curiosity I decided to check it out. My opinion? It's not as bad as everybody makes it out to be. Don't get me wrong, it's a bad game perhaps one of the worst fighting games out there but it's just not quite as bad as everybody says it is.

Inside 8/10

I don't really understand what it was trying to say, but it's stuck with me since finishing it yesterday. One of the most bizarre and intriguing games I've played in a longtime. Some superb visuals and animation set amongst some amazing atmosphere. Played it through in one sitting and had no idea about any of it. Probably the best way to play it.

Shadow complex. Great fun and a pleasure to play. A solid 9 for sure

Journey. Simply one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Phenomenal work from that game company. I think that every game they've made has been about fifty times better than their last one so there next game should by all accounts be the best game ever

Amwtgmg less than a ten for Journey would be a porky pie.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss. 5/10
What a slog. For me, this demonstrated how much the full-fat Uncharted series depends on incredible set-pieces and fairly open areas to mix up the combat in an improvised way. It was still good-looking at times, but it basically amounts to small areas with cover/pop-up and shoot action, coupled with generic platforming and basic puzzles.
Drake and Sully still deliver the enjoyable banter though.
Freed-up over 3gb of space on my card now, so happy days.

Abzu. Would have been ten out of ten but I've recently played Journey and they're very similar games. Still wonderful though.

But Journey is better

How are you playing all of these? I would love to go back and play some of the classic Megadrive games of my youth, but I find emulation a bit daunting

Something like 'Gens' (Megadrive emulator) is a piece of piss. Almost couldn't be easier to use.

I use Kega Fusion, it lets you play Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, 32x and Mega CD games.

What I really want is a Saturn emulator. But they're gooseberry fool.

An emulator called Fusion. It's so simple to use and emulates almost every SG-1000, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Mega CD and 32X game nigh on perfectly. Individual games can be downloaded in seconds or you can download complete collections in one archive which obviously take a little longer.

Emulating cartridge based systems is simple, although you'll need to "acquire" a copy of the Mega CD BIOS from each territory if you want to play those games which isn't too hard.

If you want to emulate say PlayStation for example it get's a little more complicated as you'll not only need the BIOS files but you also need plugins for graphics and sound which can be fiddly and it's often a case of just finding what works best with your system.

You can even get software that let's you use a DualShock 3 or 4 with your computer and there's a really easy to use program called Lunar IPS that allows you to apply patches to games.

Hasn't Saturn only just been cracked very recently? Give it time and I reckon a decent emulator will come along.

Sweet, thanks for all that I will definitely be getting on the emulator scene and washing myself in glorious nostalgia juices before long :datass: :toot:

No problem, while I doubt I'd get away with telling you where to source games from other than dumping ROMs yourself I'm sure there's a popular search engine out there that'll point you in the right direction :shifty:

There's probably a paradise for emulators or something.
