Rayman Legends was originally billed as a Wii U exclusive, but it’s now coming to PS3 and Xbox 360, Ubisoft has confirmed.

In a statement sent to VG247, Ubisoft confirmed the game would hit both formats at some point in September.

Ubisoft has announced that former Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends will also be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Rayman Legends are being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the same team behind the Wii U version, and all versions will hit shelves in early September 2013.

"We heard from many Xbox & Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system", said Geoffroy Sardin, EMEA chief marketing & sales officer.

"We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game."

That Q1/Q2 Wii-U lineup is looking bleak :fp:

Good news. Really enjoyed Origins. Would like to see a PC version as well, though.

My girlfriend loved the original so I'm pleased the sequel is coming to 360.

Not overly surprising that it has ended up multiformat but I'd have expected some sort of short term exclusivity deal. From what I've played the Wii U gamepad modes do add a lot but still it's bad news for the Wii U's release schedule and losing another exclusive could give the impression that 3rd parties are already concerned about Wii U sales figures.

I do think that Nintendo is getting screwed over in that Rayman Legends is being delayed specifically for ports. That said, anyone who didn't see Legends being ported to every format under the sun eventually is blind, but I expected Ubisoft to have released the (apparently already finished) WiiU version ASAP instead of delaying it for a PS360 version.

Seems a bit mental to delay the Wii U version. It's at the stage, with no games, that anything half decent will get bought by a large percentage of the userbase. Even with a bigger userbase in September, I bet they'll get less sales.

Still playing the PC version of Origins so really hope they do a PC port.

Great news for everyone except Nintendo.

I wonder if the delay is for porting it to next gen?
