As title suggests, looking to spend no more than £50

I just bought a Hitachi travelstar 1tb 7200rpm for about £44 from Amazon. Seems reasonable.

I know you said no more than £50, but if you can stretch to £60, get one of these. You can put your 500GB PS4 drive into its casing to use as a spare external hard drive.

I use one in my PS4, and have another plugged into the back of my Xbox One.

Eurogamer have just updated their guide for the 2TB upgrade, and are still recommending the drive I mentioned above as the most desirable choice.

2tb all the way. I have every game I own installed and it's only using half of the HDD space with plenty of remaining space for double the amount of games.

with the games on the other hard drive do you lose that data or do you transfer them onto the new HDD?

Not wanting to put words into Kj's mouth... but, as far as I am aware, there isn't a way to transfer games from one (internal hard) drive to another on PS4. The process of re-downloading is a pain (i.e. because PSN is slow) if you have a number of large digital games. It'd be worth upgrading to the biggest drive you think you'd need - I'd recommend 2Tb - to reduce the hassle of upgrading again in the future.

It's worth the money and time, though, as 2TB of space is just ace :toot: .

Save them to the cloud first.

Yes?

You can copy save data either to the cloud (if you have PS+) or to a USB stick. And then copy it back to the PS4 once you've changed the HDD.

I'm patiently waiting for that new PS4 with 1TB.

I was about the share the same Eurogamer article. Interesting about 2tb drives being cheaper cutting out of an enclosure these days.

Its been like that for at least a year, probably longer (think it was the same when that article originally went up, or at least very soon after).

With games like PT that can't be downloaded again, how do I transfer them over?

You'd need to do a full backup I think. Not sure really, I went a done a small backup for my save files etc which didn't include games.

Finally updated. The one I bought from Argos came in a different casing that broke when pulling apart :(

Had to backup everything onto another HDD in order to save my PT demo. Took around 3 1/2 hours in total but now up and running with all downloads and DLC. Just need to install my most used games.

Presumably you got the 2015 model, as the Eurogamer article quoted earlier states you should have bought the previous version which you can pick on the Amazon page for the device.

Welcome to the world of vast space, Rubix!

It will still fill up remarkably quickly :shifty: . But it is ace :toot: .
