ReCore (Xbox One/Win10) - Definitive Edition out now for £15!!!, free upgrade for current owners

Just finished this.

I really liked the game overall, but the ending left me hugely underwhelmed. There was no real resolution to the story, no real details of how things got the way they were. The audio logs fill in a few gaps but nowhere near enough. What was dust devil? How/why did Victor take over? Did he really destroy the ships in orbit since we know he lied about killing Kai? What happened back on Earth? What happened to the other humans who were awake on Far Eden before Victor took over?

And then the post credit scene just trying to setup a sequel or DLC that, in all likelihood, isn't going to happen unfortunately. As I understand it sales figures weren't that great for the game.

It's also pretty obvious the game is unfinished really. The tank bot is missing entirely, despite it being on the cover and even sections if the game designed for it (quicksand around the rockets near Kai's crawler) still being in the map. Also the entire southern half of the first area has just been sealed off. Again, either stuff was cut seriously late in development or, again, it was cut for DLC that we're probably not going to get.

Overall, whats here is great, but the incomplete package leaves a bitter, disappointing taste when you're done.

Console digital distribution is a nonsensical fantasy land where normal things don't happen very often.

I think the digital version also gets you it on both Xbox and Windows store, not 100% on that though.

It does, but you get similar price difference on games which don't have similar benefits to buy digitally.

Its probably just down to supply and demand, there will be more physical versions of the game out there that retailers want to get rid of than there are digital codes for the game.

I was watching the trailer during the Gamescom show and didn't know what it was but it looked really good. Cool atmospheric music too.

KJGarly nearly tempted me to get this but now its coming with gamepass I can try it out for reals. :toot:

When is the definitive Edition coming out? I have it unplayed on the PC, as I was thinking of starting it, but don't see the point if the definitive edition is out fairly soon.

At least they aren't jacking up the price, so thank heaven for small mercies.

Think I'll give it a new play from scratch when the update hits.
Really hope this gets a sequel or at least some DLC for more story.
