I find that remarkable, I really can't get into it, I'm probably about 6 hours in and I'm not finding it enjoyable at all. The gun play feels unsatisfying, many of the missions involve riding for long periods with nothing to do and in general I find the controls pretty sluggish. I'm probably pretty bad at the game, but there must be something I'm missing here? From the short time I've played it I'd give it a six and that's only due to the technical achievement on display. I'm pretty gutted about this, I wanted to enjoy the game but I'm finding little motivation to go back :(

I agree with all that you have said, I also really wanted to like this game and thought it would be s game I would be playing from now until Christmas but after a few hours I really can’t be bothered to play it again and might even just give up and sell it, I find it really dull and I really don’t like the controls and how it feels, it’s hard to explain but the whole set up seems wrong, I loved the last grand theft auto and have completed the story mode on that at least three times

I was just on my way to the tracker when one of the gang rode up to me shouting that another of the gang had been caught by bounty hunters and we had to go rescue hime. Not sure if it's part of the story, but it feels more like a random encounter thing because I have not done any kind of mission for at least six hours of game time. Spent yesterday just working on hunting challenges, and collecting pelts for satchel upgrades, so can't see anything I did that would have triggered it.

I’ve never felt so connected with a game world as I do in this, it’s astonishing. You really need time just to soak it in. If you don’t have that time though and many if not most people won’t (or shouldn’t) then I think the game will remain a bit of a slog. I don’t know how you could give it a good review in a few days. I’m 9 days with it now and am only just starting to feel what it’s trying to achieve.

Thats why I don't trust reviews based on huge games such as a sandbox game. Either they played it to the death in few days, or they had a review copy for ages.

Anyway, my horse is now like an army truck. You'll be amazed at how many weapons it can hold. (Turns out that discarding the standard revolver for a better one isn't lost forever. It's still on the horse.)

Also it seems that my Arthur is underweight.

I'm annoyed that I haven't found a cave painting, dinosaur bone or a treasure yet. Off I go on treasure hunt!

This game can be brutal, Game of Thrones brutal :o

Chapter 5 spoiler
When you accept a mission for Sadie and it begins with a headless Keiran rolling in on a horse who you've spent ages joking around with...

My current outfit for committing crimes. Would like a top hat but I don't think you can wear the mask with them, so will just have to make do with the bandanna.

You gain positive honour points by shooting racists.

I like that a lot.

I was not prepared for how enthralled in this game I would become, it’s rocketed into my top 10 of all time I think.its taken inspiration from some of my favourite games ever like The Last of Us and Breath of the Wild. Where it really excels though is how much it feels like a real environment, I can seemingly just spend hours in this world not really doing anything. It feels next gen in the way GTA V did at the end of last gen but in a much more compelling way than just the technical accomplishment that was. It’s stunningly beautiful to look at and some of the lighting effects are unrivalled by even the best in the business (Naughty Dog) and this is open world!

All my previous issues are starting to melt away as I just soak in this world and the gang which I’m really growing attached to. The script is easily Rockstar’s best and combine with ethe voice acting and music it just ooozes atmosphere. It’s pretty signed sealed GOTY for me and quickly becoming one of games of the generation.

I got some good time on this over the weekend and I don't really agree with the reviews about the hassle with all the stats to keep on top of. It's extremely easy to manage and nowhere near as cumbersome as San Andreas. I see some reviewers moaning that it takes two button presses to open the map, but that simply isn't true as you press and hold the options button on the PS4 and it opens the map.

I'm massively engrossed in it. I went to do some shopping in Asda yesterday and I swear I was walking with a cowboy swagger

Mate finished this last thursday and reckons its the best game he's ever played. I'm enjoying it but like The Witcher and Origins, it'll take some time for me to get to the end, possibly a full year.

I presume it picks up as I'd put it behind The Witcher 3 and AC Origins at mo.

That said, he's back in the PUBG Squad and I'm up to 54 CD's now. :datass:

One of the two guys discussing the game on the Eurogamer podcast said he prefers AC Odyssey. :fp:

Maybe he prefers gameplay over "immersive" moments of walking and listening to people talk

This.

There's no doubt that RDR2 is more intricate and you can converse and do more with the world and it's NPC's but purely from a game play point of view, AC Origins is better at the moment, plus, for me so far, I preferred AC Origins story. A believable husband and wife pairing and parents grief are portrayed well in ACO, so far in RDR2 it's all a bit gruff and ham handed, I presume it gets better but gameplay wise, jumping off a horse and stabbing a guy in the head then throwing his sword at another plus the parkour is lots of fun.

Tbh I would be delighted if R* abandoned the realism approach.

The last GTA game I really loved is Vice City is because it doesn’t take itself seriously.

GTA IV's DLC took itself less seriously than the main game too and was all the better for it in my opinion.

I am really getting engrossed in Read Dead 2 though. The world is truly magnificent.

Which town can I find that mask. Looks creepy as strawberry float?

I bought a couple of masks from the fence in Rhodes, but I can only seem to put on my bandana - any idea how you access them?
