PostRed Dwarf XI and XII Announced!
by Qikz » Sat May 02, 2015 12:35 pm

As the entire population of the world obsesses over the birth of a baby in London, 3 million light years away in a substantial space vessel belonging to the Jupiter Mining Corporation 4 hopeless smegheads prepare for more adventures.

Red Dwarf Series XI and XII

Recording starts late October 2015.

12 new episodes.

Shed loads of Smeg Ups

Original cast (they couldn't get anyone decent to do it)

Original writer (Doug-Chief of Comedy Police-Naylor)

About 18 kilos of rubber, 12 H's, a lot of hair extensions, sequins, Vindaloo and a new smeg hammer.

X wasn't perfect but it was certainly good. I'm really excited to see where they'll go with XI and XII!

X had at least two or three really good episodes. More Red Dwarf is never bad!

X was alright so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Is X on the British Netflix? The last one I saw was BTE. :dread:

X wasn't bad, so I'll give this the benefit of the doubt.

I enjoyed X, it was a great step back towards the classic.
Hope they keep the live audience again, that really helped with X I thought.

I love Red Dwarf so much. I can't imagine new series will ever produce the quality seen in earlier episodes, but I certainly don't mind watching more of it.

Since no one else has started it...

V>VI>IV>III>II>I>>VII>>X>>VIII>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BTE

Though I'll no doubt change my mind in 5 minutes.

As for a new series.... Hmm. Not sure if want. X wasn't bad but it was still a far cry from the original 6 series. I'd honestly be happy if they left it as is. But we'll see.

Craig Charles is leaving Corrie to film these. He has been there ten years, it's a steady paycheck and they have stood by him through all his problems. He must be confident in the material.

VII better than X? What madness is this?

III-V were the pinnacle though.

How can you exclude series 6?! The first two episodes of series 7 are also great. It really goes downhill when Kochansky joins the crew. I am a big fan of the first two series and have never really understood why they aren't as well thought of as the later series. Basically, I love all of it  up until episode 3 series 7.

The first season has a couple of incredible episodes, Future Echoes being one of the best of the entire show, but the show is still finding its feet for most of it. Season 2 is fantastic though, and in my opinion it stays great from there up to the end of VI. VII is the least amusing but has its moments (Duct Soup anyone?), and VIII managed to raise a few laughs despite feeling like a completely different show at times. BTE was just dull, but X was mostly pretty good.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to XI and XII!

I and II aren't as well thought of because they don't have Kryten, for me at least anyway. Lister, Rimmer and Cat are great don't get me wrong, but Kryten just added that little something that was missing.

I liked VI and enjoyed it, but I just find III-V to be the real highlights.

X isn't on Netflix anymore, but you can watch the whole series on the UKTV website at the moment, http://uktvplay.uktv.co.uk/shows/red-dw ... ch-online/

It's also on demand if you have Sky. I just watched the first two episodes again. Unfortunately it's simply not in the same league as the classic stuff.

I do have Sky!Ya I wouldn't expect it to be as good as the old stuff,I'll go in with low expectations and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

I sat in the audience last night to watch the recording of episode 2, series 12.

Genuine dream come true for me as such a huge RD fan. There was a moment near the beginning before anything had properly started where everything was curtained off and the warm up act was going. Suddenly he stopped, walked to one side and the four of them burst out from the curtains in costume and character. I was in the second row sat with my family and I couldn't get the smile off my face for a long time.

Very excited for the autumn and series 11 :D. The episode I saw filmed won't air until October 2017!
