Postrefurbishing a laptop

I'm buying a laptop from a friend for £100 it a pretty ace toshiba. Now the proplem is there is no display (proplem with the screen) I think it would cost about £90 to fix. Jusy wondering if anyone thought this would be a good idea

A screen will cost more than £90 to fix.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

It depends whats wrong with it, when my laptop screen broke, due to liquid being spilt. It cost upwards of £200. :|

I didnt pay it of course, Im not that stupid. :shifty:

If the extremely thin ribbon tape that connects the display adapter on the motherboard to the screen is faulty, that would cost hundreds to fix as they are very unique, delicate and rare parts, as would the panel itself if that is damaged. Unless you fancy carefully studying an entire circuit board for faulty solder joints or blown capacitors.....

Probably not worth it.

You could however try connecting it to an external display if the specs are any good.

I've not bought it. But I asked him to take it to a computer shop and get them to see what they thinks wrong before I buy

When my screen broke I opened it up just to get some part numbers and when I put it back together it magically started working again. :D

It depends on what's wrong. Sometimes the ribon cable comes loose, or it could be more serious.

If you want a cheap PC, just plug a monitor into it :lol: It would probably be cheaper that getting the laptop fixed.
