Im not suggesting the man should pay for everything, I just find it odd that couples dont do a rounds system for eating out and stuff like that. Seems its a lot more common that I had thought.

I pay for most meals out, but then I have a full time job whereas my girlfriend is at uni. Just go with whatever feels fair and everyone is happy

My last two girlfriends became increasingly annoyed at me offering to pay for stuff. And I agree; the man paying for the woman is a totally outdated and, whisper it, sexist way of doing things. Are women incapable of paying their own way? I admit it was a struggle not to keep offering but I understand why it would get super annoying. It's a nice gesture at the start, but as relationships go on it shouldn't be the norm any more.

Funnily enough most if not all of the women I've dated have said that they'd expect the man to pay for the first date as a courtesy, and although they'd usually offer to go galves they'd expect to be overruled. I tend to agree with you though, because I'm a tight bastard. :slol:

We have one joint account. Our salaries are paid into it and we receive an equal fixed amount into our personal accounts to do whatever we want with. This personal money includes date nights which we usually take it in turns to cover payment for. We’ve still managed to have disagreements about this though due to the Mrs believing that she shouldn’t be paying as much into the joint account until I point out that despite me earning several hundred pounds a month more than her and if anyone should be getting more personal money it's me.

It's a bit silly when it's an actual split of all items each person has had, as opposed to just a 50/50 split. I remember going to a meal with an old ex's family and her mum split the bill 11 ways. Took strawberry floating forever!

I think it's less awkward to split the bill with large groups than to go through the whole meal worrying that you need to try and hit the average spend. It's upsetting when you have a cheap main and a soft drink an end up paying twice what it was worth because old Pete had the rib eye and everyone else had three pints.

The problems only come when people can't do maths and don't pay attention - I usually know how much I've spent in total when I've ordered rather than waiting to add up items off a bill.

I've been out with couples who split the bill every time and it's awkward as strawberry float.

Yeah, exactly this. Works perfectly well with no fuss whatsoever.

We play a Lego game first and who ever gets the least amount of studs has to pay. I thought most people did that?

We split the studs 50 50 at the end of the level. My mrs is financially independent so doesn't need to rely on anyone else to collect her share.

A bit more on topic. But remember that girl who I'd been on a bunch of dates with and hadn't even kissed, who used to have Agoraphobia?

Well I stayed over her place this week 8-) I know most of you guys on this forum are 'mad lad' types :slol: but I thought it might be nice for some quieter members of the forum to know that there's someone out there for everyone :)

I'm pleased for you, Fade. You've found someone to be happy and comfortable with, and that's a lot.

Until you break up once the honeymoon period wears off and sink back into despair and sexless living. Have fun.
