I'm doing well Ad7, thanks for asking. I see congrats are in order (it won't last, they never do ;))

I pop up now and again on here, like a Japanese soldier hiding in a forest.

Wasn't that last week? I remember waking up and hearing the sound of knuckles dragging on the pavement.

There's another one on Saturday, starting at Cathedral Square.

If she starts tapping her feet and humming along then Kezzer will know that a 3rd date probably isn't the best idea.

My suggestion is that if this is the case, he should still pump her, but say a Hail Mary during the vinegar strokes, hold on tight and enjoy the ride

I never kiss until the 3rd date.

It makes the sex on the first two dates a little impersonal though.

If she's into dancing then there are plenty of places you can go to in the centre to carry on the night, that cater to plenty of different tastes. There's a place in the Merchant City called Avant Garde that usually has a Ceilidh every Saturday, if either of you would be into that. Slouch is good for late live music too (as is King Tut's) but it gets mega busy so may not be the best if you're looking to make some moves.

Be an arthouse wanker and go to the CCA or something, see what poncey exhibitions they have on display and then retreat to the bar.

Bank has it spot on - good food, decent drink selection and music that works for you both. My first date with current GF was a trip to the Biere Halle followed by Crystal Palace - what I'm trying to say is don't go too fancy if you don't know how she'll react; CCA and Avant Garde are cracking and I love going to them both but they're also quite niche for what they are. A pub visit is absolutely fine for a date, just as long as it's not a shitey old man pub. Just judge it by what you think she'll like.

Slouch on the other hand is an excellent place to go. Not too loud, a nice chilled atmosphere, good music, fairly cheap booze - good place to have a chat and get to know her. I'd also suggest having a look up Finnieston way as there are a few good bars there, or Ashton Lane. Even Mono or Flying Duck if she likes vegan food, and Yes Bar if she's a die hard nationalist.

Where are you meeting her? Town, West End, Merchant City or what? We can probably tailor some suggestions to your area and also turn up to stalk you offer moral support.

Looks like it will be town, I think the biggest trouble I have is that it will be an afternoon date

I mean I can drink anytime though. :shifty:

There are plenty of good cafes in the centre. Go to a central one (you could literally even decide while walking, there are so many good places that it's kinda hard to strawberry float up, but Bath Street is generally a safe shout to walk down and pick a spot). Find out some interests and then you could move onto somewhere after to carry it on. Again, you have the CCA, the GFT (or pop to Cineworld if she's not a poncey film fan) bars to move onto if you fancy a beer or something as well as more specialist places for specific tastes. Christ if it turns out she's into games you have stuff like Megabytes which can be a fun way to kill some hours. Or pop across to mermaid Quay for some bowling, I dunno.

If you're int he centre you're spoilt for choice of options. Like Cora says, also damn good for veggie and vegan food if she's more into that.

If she's a veggie or vegan, broom her now and count yourself lucky.

Do not - DO NOT - take her to Megabytes

Gamer or not you can practically smell the neck beard there half the time. I do love it but it's not for a second date. See also - Super Bario on King Street.

How well do you know the city centre?

I agree with the Bath Street idea. Again, Slouch is good, or Lucky Seven Canteen, there's a place there called Red Onion I've heard good things about if you want to sit and eat.

Avoid Union Street obviously, there's nothing for you there. The Lab is on a side street off Buchanan Street leading to the Princes Square Ted Baker shop, might be worth a look, or Biere Halle if the tent is up on Gordon Street for pizza and a stein. If the two of you are up for a wee walk you could even head to Merchant Square or Maggie Mays.

Other decent, if slightly pretentious options for something to eat and a drink are Stereo on Renfield Lane, Flying Duck on Renfield Street and Mono* on king street. Mogwai love it in there.

What's she expecting? Lunch and a drink? An activity? Just another coffee date?

Only definite thing I'd say would be to avoid chain restaurants like Pizza Hut or Nandos, and don't take her to an old man pub.

*Apparently it's short for Monorail. They've brought bars to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook.

How is this for a mind blowing turn of events.

I'm in Poland with the bird and her daughter, having a wee holibob, as you do. We were out today and I was talking with the little one and she said she was talking to her Ma and how she was telling her Ma how I'm basically her step dad. I was just like, I suppose I am in some respects yeah. She then says to me, am I allowed to call you dad?

I said you can call me whatever you want if it makes you happy and your mum is happy too. Spoke to the bird on her own and she said that it was mentioned and she take the same approach as me.

How crazy is that? Falsey, woman slayer, step dad.

Crazy, crazy times.

I have a lot of funny feelings about it. I'm obviously flattered and happy she feels like that, but at the same time her actual dad is still very much a part of her life and I don't want to pretend like I'm trying to take over or push him out of the way or anything like that.

I'm very different to her the bird and her dad in that I'm a lot more structured and push self reliance and self learning a lot more, but it seems as though she enjoys it on the surface I guess.

She calls her dads partner her step mum even though they aren't married so it's not new ground or anything.

I think overall I'm just very flattered and a little proud, but don't want to let her down I guess.

It's a big responsibility when a child who isn't your own treats you as a parental figure, I think. It's good that you've got that relationship with her and she trusts you like that. You're a responsible adult, congrats False! Who'd have thunk it?
