Just don't get shitfaced, try and limit the amount you drink so you can actually enjoy the day and remember it!

So many chavs get absolutely wasted and have no recollection of one of the biggest days of their lives, such a waste of effort and money  :fp:

Also don't forget to compliment your bride in your speech (I nearly did this).

When I was best man, my mate did this. Didn’t mention the bride once. Dedicated way too much time making fun of me as a preemptive strike for my best man speech :slol: :fp:

Yes don't get paralytic and piss yourself. I saw a groom do that once. No it wasn't me.

Similarly try and avoid using cocaine. I once attended a wedding reception where the groom was coked-up to the eyeballs. He kept walking up to people declaring, "Hey! My wife has massive tits!".

Yep, I've been to some classy shindigs in my time. :datass:

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

I only had 3 beers on my wedding day and those were after the event.

Following the trend of marriage posts, we got our weddings rings at the weekend. It's all feeling a bit more real now, though we've still got 8 months to go till the actual wedding.

Next up booking a celebrant, sorting kilts and booking a mini-moon.

Why don't you PM Hyperion and see if he's available? He's only 270 km in diameter.

I agree with the "don't get gooseberry fool faced" advice - I've seen some friends go way too far on the drink on their wedding day and have massively regretted it. It can be hilarious to watch a train wreck of a wedding if it isn't someone you are close to though! :slol:

I don't think I drank anything on my wedding day if I recall rightly, was too busy just enjoying seeing everyone and taking in the moment.

My best advice would be to make sure you've got a great bunch of supportive folks around you - people happy to roll up sleeves if necessary. Obviously everyone plans their wedding and tries to get everything lined up to run perfectly, but there's always something that causes an issue and it's great to have people who will jump in and help sort stuff so you don't have to be the only one worrying! We had the odd thing that fell apart on the day or the night before and it was great to have close friends to help!

My GF has started the process of planning our wedding.* We aren’t technically engaged yet(we will be in December) but she knows it’s coming and given that she needs to give her friends and family back home about a year’s notice, or as much as is humanly possible, it made sense to lock down the date and a venue quite quickly. It all seems to be going smoothly at the moment, but we’ll see how things pan out...

The less involvement I have, the better for everyone. :slol:
