Sega has cancelled development on Bayonetta 2, according to a new report.

A source told Spong that Sega halted development on the Platinum-created sequel following an internal restructure.

Apparently the game included a new character, someone who was a member of the US military.

Last month Sega announced a number of games had been cancelled, but didn't specify which ones. Was Bayonetta 2, which has never been announced, one of them? Sega declined to comment on the story.

Sega has published each of Platinum's games: MadWorld, Infinite Space, Bayonetta and Vanquish, and retains the IP for each. It will publish Platinum's Anarchy Reigns this year, a game in which Bayonetta makes a guest appearance.

, we all said, when Falsey was banned for a week.

Could be wrong anyway, the developers are being teasing gooseberry fools about it - https://twitter.com/#!/PG_inaba/status/ ... 2587252736

Mental game, but actually rather refreshing and great! The more this happens, and the more COD 25 and other franchises with numerous sequels continue to be successful, the closer we get to destroying the industry and originality in games!

A sad day!

Was Bayonetta actually that original? Another combo-stringing action combat game in a near enough identical vein to Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, etc. I don't think it actually offered much different at all, aside from it being even more ridiculous in its presentation.

Definitely in my top five, and easily the best action game since the original Devil May Cry (not that the DMC or Ninja Gaiden sequels have been any good for quite some time now). I can't think of a single other game this generation I've completed as many times either.

Flyyyyy me to the moooon

But seriously, the xbox pad is not suited for this type of game. Was it any better for PS3 players, I'd imagine it being more comfortable to play on that. Xbox pad is great but not for a silly amount of button bashing.

I hope some media from the sequel leaks, even if it's just the concept art.

I think that somehow manages to make this news even worse. At least Hideki isn't touching that nonsense with a considerably long barge pole - http://www.alafista.com/2011/12/12/kami ... vengeance/

Christ, just look at that man's resume. Director on Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 2, Viewtiful Joe, Okami and Bayonetta. Why would you prevent this strawberry floating guy from making anything at this point?

Because he hasn't made anything good since Devil May Cry?

Yep.

Great shame, I really enjoyed the first game, well deserved Edge Ten.
