I have never understood why people are so offended by a flag being burnt, I’m not much of a flag person though.
This is all part of that strange American culture that says that the only true patriotism is to have extreme reverence for the flag, national anthem or pledge of allegiance and anyone that doesn't is subhuman scum who obviously hates America and wants to see it destroyed.
They honestly can't understand how people can still be patriotic while not really being that bothered about a flag or not feeling the need to stand at the national anthem which is why they see Europe as some unpatriotic hellhole.
I think I'm fairly patriotic but burning our flag doesn't mean anything to me other than you paid to buy a flag and then burn it so "good one fuckface" would be my response.
If anything I see it as a sneaky sales opportunity as we can see them gooseberry fool they can then burn in protest.
