YES! My man, the Newtron bomb is going to win the South Carolina primary. He became a conduit for pure southern Republican racial id in the two recent debates, and has soared to what could be as much as a 15 point lead over Mittens.

Oh, and Romney didn't even win Iowa, Santorum did. So Mr Inevitable has only won one state, and has none of the momentum. Even if he wins now, it's going to be a long and bloody contest.

All the republican candidates are pretty crap this year because all the 'good' ones Chris Christie, Jeb Bush etc know that have a much better chance in 2016 when they don't have to face an incumbent.

Huckabee could have walked this if he wasn't stuck at the Fox trough.

I wonder, in Britain, how much would a person's religion matter? I mean if you had the "perfect" candidate who did and said all the right things... except he was a Buddhist/Hindu/Jew, would people still vote for him?

I would think twice about voting for someone with strong religious views, does that count? An adult who believes in invisible sky fairies and wants to run the country...

Somebody who quietly believes in God, Gods, Spaghetti, whatever doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Somebody who wants to make a big deal about it would lose my vote though.

I don’t honestly think an open atheist would suffer if they were trying to become Prime Minister.

Which is odd really. America is supposed to have separated Church and State, but are unlikely to have an atheist President anytime soon. We have not separated Church and State but would probably not bat an eyelid if an atheist was in charge.
