First of all I just want to make it clear that I think having statues of people who defended slavery is a really stupid thing to do, but yes they actually did in a way. Washington and Jefferson both rebelled against their country (England), to avoid paying taxes for wars that were fought to protect the colonies from France. Yes, yes I know it's not technically the same thing because Washington and Jefferson actually won their war so the US became their "real country", yadah yadah yadah.

I also think it's a bit odd that these people who hate our "everyone gets a prize" society are fighting to keep statues for a bunch of people who lost.
