The fact this has ‘leaked’ almost guarantees riots to some degree now. It’s like a call to arms.

Trump firing Mueller in a midterm year when a blue wave's very existence may depend on that very action? He must be very confident about ending the Korean War and that overriding everything else.
Trump's at Mar-A-Lago all week, surrounded by people who want Mueller gone, while Comey is doing his publicity tour. Honestly, it's hard to see Mueller making it out of this week with a job.

It's insane that it is (apparently) within the law for Trump to fire Mueller given that Trump himself is the subject of the entire investigation.

Unless Trump can get a stooge into the FBI whoever takes over will just continue the investigation.

It's also hilarious to think that Trump may be able to sort the North Korea situation. I would quite happily give him his dues if he manages to do this.

Trump cannot actually fire Mueller. He needs the Deputy Attorney General to do that (Rod Rosenstein). It seems he regularly contemplates firing Rosenstein, but this could set up the equivalent of Nixon's Saturday night massacre.
Bottom line Trump's options are not good for stopping these investigations and they are a lot worse than they were a week ago. Mueller passed on information to New York (SDNY) for the raid on Cohen's office (Rosenstein approved this). Trump has no authority to stop the investigation there and importantly has no pardon power over state crimes.

The other side is that he could hand North Korea a load of legitimacy for doing nothing and make the situation even worse.

North Korea is maybe taking a leaf out of Russia's book - help keep Trump in power and build more division in the West, pander to the morally bankrupt orange egotist and get away with more gooseberry fool. Trump is an isolationist at heart and doesn't care about pissing off America's allies, North Korea would love to see the US adopt a reduced role around the world.

I put a link in the North Korea thread thing, but this meeting has been open to every US president since Clinton. Apparently, Clinton was minutes away from getting on a plane but pulled out at the last minute. NK are just gagging to get a meeting with a US president, I just don't actually think it'll produce anything at all beneficial.
