How about if the US bans all the shitty American cheese (it's not worthy of the name) and imports at least 70k tons of artisan British cheese.
Then American's would realise just how rubbish an idea independence is and beg us to take them back as subjects.

Only if they'll drive on the correct side of the road though.

Alabama Senate votes to allow church to form police dept.
Apr 11, 2017 05:20 PM
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Senate has voted to allow a church to form its own police force.

Lawmakers on Tuesday voted 24-4 to allow Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham to establish a law enforcement department.

The church says it needs its own police officers to keep its school as well as its more than 4,000 person congregation safe.

Critics of the bill argue that a police department that reports to church officials could be used to cover up crimes.

The state has given a few private universities the authority to have a police force, but never a church or non-school entity.

Police experts have said such a police department would be unprecedented in the U.S.

A similar bill is also scheduled to be debated in the House on Tuesday.

Could be fake news though right? :dread:

This is a just a lot of fluff. The law was to allow Churches to set up police in the same way Universities or other large institutions have them. They still follow all the normal state laws, it's not as if they'e some Sharia patrol.

Driving on the left is slightly safer. The majority of the world is right eyed and right hand dominant. Left side driving means the dominant hand is always on the steering wheel, even when changing gear and the dominant eye is focused on incoming traffic.

Another win for the UK and the empire

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but here in North America most cars are automatic, so we can keep both hands on the steering wheel :P

Ehh, maybe a few decades ago. Back in the day manuals were better on gas (depending on your driving) and more reliable but now a days they are pretty close in quality and automatics are juat as fuel efficient. Also if you are talking about performance, then the sequential transmissions with the paddles beat the manuals and you can drive those with both hands on the steering wheel.

That's because we are grown ups and can drive proper cars.

Better off learning with a manual too as then you can drive both.

There is only one driving test in the Americas. My brother learned on an automatic in Canada and managed to swap his licence for one that allows him to drive manual and automatic.

That's actually fake news. There's another angle of that somewhere that will reveal the teen that handed it to him was also the one to receive it back.

Is anyone else finding that this whole NK and US stuff is just hot air, it seems that they've settled into a back and forth game of "if you hit me, I'll hit you back". Pretty much just repeating the same stuff everyday but slightly reworded.

Pence stated today that the strategy of "Strategic Patience" has come to an end, and H.R. McMaster said that the NK thing is coming to a head.

I don't know what'll happen, but it feels like we're scarily close to a resumption of open hostilities. I guess the ball's in China's court now.

I dunno over the last couples of days I'm just not expecting anything to happen. If trump seriously thinks North Korea is going to do anything thing he needs to move a lot more military resources to the area, just sending one carrier isn't enough. Yes I know they have 30,000 troops in SK and more in Japan but that's nothing really. I don't think NK will do anything and I don't believe the US is serious enough about starting something. I think Hostilities can only come from something unexpected, a coup in NK, a NK missile launch going wrong and hitting SK or Japan.

I think that Trump could be trying to call North Korea's bluff by sending in that carrier group. A man-up or shut up situation. Of course, it likely wasn't his idea to do that.

I can only imagine what kind of revelations we'll start hearing in the years to come about close calls on the nuclear war front, averted in the nick of time by the right people advising and restraining Trump's ire at the right times.

IMO, I think North Korea has had some dangerous levels of appeasement in the past. I'm not entirely unconvinced we should not just call their bluff and say "if you do even one more nuclear test we will bomb every air base you have and make sure you don't have another one". It seems extreme but so is a nuclear strike that they keep threatening. We know from history that appeasing men like that is safer in the short term but very dangerous in the long term.

It might antagonise China but not existentially. There could be economic impacts but they are not seriously going to engage militarily with the US for the sake of NK.

If the US were to going to decide that they need to launch a massive strike at NK missile sites and various facilities then I'm very confident that NK launch a massive bombardment of Seoul and send all their troops over the border in a full roll of the dice. Just throw everything they have.

Ultimately it won't happen and trump will probably make a deal for a golf course just outside Pyongyang

Yeah I think the major concern is what NK would do to SK in retaliation. No-one wants to trigger a war that could cause so much death and destruction.
