British Empire version 2.0 is not far away.

Once Brexit finishes they'll all come grovelling back once they see just how mighty our economy is.

I can only imagine the sheer size of the intellectual chasm separating the two of them.

Look at his stupid strawberry floating saggy grumpy teenager face. He's an absolute clown.

You do have to wonder the scale of the epic strawberry float up he'd have to do to get impeached. Probably wanking in front of the Queen or something.

He has to do what Madoff did - screw with other wealthy people's money in a big way. Beyond that, that child rape case going to court and him being found guilty.

Anything less would require Democratic majorities to pull off.

I have hope that the mid-terms will see sanity return and Democrat voters turn out in force so Trump loses at least one house.

The GOP could lose a significant number of Governorships and seats in the House, but the Senate will probably remain more firmly in their hands - hopefully all with vastly reduced majorities.

Taking on healthcare lead to Clinton losing the houses in '94 IIRC, and it cost Obama his House majority, so hopefully the same thing will happen here. Healthcare became a huge quagmire for Obama, leading to the rest of the agenda he first campaigned on (jobs, the economy etc) taking a back seat. Trumpcare could easily fall foul of the same pitfalls, which would bode well for us as all the other gooseberry fool we don't want to happen would have to wait, and by then maybe he wouldn't be able to get it past the senate or congress.

This article by Gail Collins in the NYT , sorry the failing NYT, sums up how I feel right now:

Imagine what would have happened if, at some point over the last two weeks, the president had just casually conceded that he had been misinformed about the wiretap thing. His health care plan wouldn’t look any better. His budget wouldn’t have been more defensible. But we’d feel slightly less terrified that the nation’s security is in the hands of a nut job.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's going to be anything other than an attempt to legitimise Trump in the eyes of the wider public, and bury the talk of Russia connections. Comey showed where his loyalties lie when he publicly reopened the Clinton email stuff right before the election.

Comey confirms FBI investigation into Trump campaign links to Russia during election

Here’s Comey. Bombshell confirmation right off the top:

“Our practice is not to confirm existence of ongoing investigations,” he begins (cough Clinton’s emails cough). .. “But in unusual circumstances where it is in the public interest” we go public, he says.

Then he announces:

I have been authorized by the DoJ to confirm that the FBI.. is investigating the Russian government’s attempts to interfere in the 2016 election... that includes any links between the Trump campaign... this will also include an assessment of whether any crimes were committed.

He calls it an “open, ongoing investigation.’

Reps pushing hard on Russia didnt hack votes angle.

Presumably trying to get 'election was t hacked' ingrained against more nebulous 'hackers influenced election position'

The FBI is almost certainly not the only American intelligence agency investigating the Trump-Russia links.
