When Trump said wiretapping he didn't mean wiretapping

Trump uses ' ' like the tabloids. It allows you to get away with so much. He knows what he's doing.

If their goal is to completely destroy the public's ability to tell fact from fiction, they're going about it the right way. Do I sense the hand of Bannon in all this?

He's best friends with the man who owns the Globe and the Enquirer, two of America's biggest tabloids*, so it's likely he learned that little trick from him.

*Their circulation is pretty low, but they occupy prime real estate in supermarket checkout aisles nationwide.

Was just going to post that.

Unsubstantiated claims by US President Donald Trump that he was wiretapped by Barack Obama were not meant literally, the White House press secretary says.

Sean Spicer said Mr Trump had broadly meant "surveillance and other activities" when he made the allegation in a tweet earlier this month.

He also suggested the president was not accusing his predecessor specifically.

Funny how they're happy to use the "fake news" of various newspapers (including the failing NYT) to support their surveillance allegations.

Trump doesn't type his own tweets though, he has an underling do it. I can't see Trump doing the air quotes while dictating so I think his typist inserted them on their own prerogative.

Maybe he has a tabloid veteran on his staff?

Does Trump really not type his own tweets? Why would he hire someone who can't spell if so?

From reading the Neogaf thread on the tax returns, it looks like they're from about 10 years ago.

So, tax dodging evidence, but nothing on Russian ties? We need returns from after 2013.

These tax returns look like a good way to bury something else more newsworthy.

Tax returns largely a damp squib, Sean hannity was worried tho calling it a felony to show them. I hate that guy so much!

Veering into conspiracy territory but could Trump have leaked this tax return himself? From what I saw this morning it doesn’t appear to present him in a bad light as he was actually paying tax. Was that the only year that he didn’t fiddle his books?
