Yep, let's see how long they stick to the "We shouldn't stop people from running for office just for being accused of a crime" when the next democrat politician is accused of anything. If this was a Democrat being accused they would be calling for him to be investigated and Hannity would be going full outrage beast mode.

So several people knew about WikiLeaks being in contact with the campaign:
on the same day that Trump Jr. received the first message from WikiLeaks, he emailed other senior officials with the Trump campaign, including Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Brad Parscale, and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, telling them WikiLeaks had made contact. Kushner then forwarded the email to campaign communications staffer Hope Hicks. At no point during the 10-month correspondence does Trump Jr. rebuff WikiLeaks, which had published stolen documents and was already observed to be releasing information that benefited Russian interests.

Looks like Trump Jr. parroted a bunch of things WikiLeaks sent him via Twitter DMs, and this stuff about Trumps tax returns...
“Hey Don. We have an unusual idea,” WikiLeaks wrote on October 21, 2016. “Leak us one or more of your father’s tax returns.” WikiLeaks then laid out three reasons why this would benefit both the Trumps and WikiLeaks. One, The New York Times had already published a fragment of Trump’s tax returns on October 1; two, the rest could come out any time “through the most biased source (e.g. NYT/MSNBC).”

It is the third reason, though, WikiLeaks wrote, that “is the real kicker.” “If we publish them it will dramatically improve the perception of our impartiality,” WikiLeaks explained. “That means that the vast amount of stuff that we are publishing on Clinton will have much higher impact, because it won’t be perceived as coming from a ‘pro-Trump’ ‘pro-Russia’ source.” It then provided an email address and link where the Trump campaign could send the tax returns, and adds, “The same for any other negative stuff (documents, recordings) that you think has a decent chance of coming out. Let us put it out.”

...sounds an awful like what could've happened when some older, not very newsworthy tax return info ended up being leaked to Rachel Maddow at MSNBC a while back.

Anyone still believe WikiLeaks is some impartial good guy in all this? :dread:

It’s been hard to see Wikileaks as the good guys ever since Assange decided to live in a cupboard.

Have to say I have been surprised by the muted response to these revelations so far. No-one is proclaiming this is the definitive smoking gun. I think in part because people are now thinking in terms of formal charges, rather than this just being irrefutable evidence that the Trump campaign was in direct contact with foreign actors influencing the US election. I suppose also that the press has so many scandals to focus on right now, it is difficult to keep up!

It should all catch up with him in the end, but there are just too many scandals ongoing with Trump to really be able to pin him down to just one.

Mueller needs to grab this case by the pussy and just get on with charging the Trumpmeister with light treason.

I suppose the main problem Republicans have is the obvious fact that everyone knows if the tables were turned they would be going batshit mental demanding prison time for anyone even slightly involved even if they were just a "Tea boy".
The hypocrisy is almost staggering if it wasn't just so predictable.

Just watch Trumps supporters still claim to be the victims even if he is convicted and sentenced.

Is this something that Mueller and his team can use to charge Trump Jr. with a crime, though? What law was broken? Not defending him, just concerned that any time we think treason has been committed, it doesn't amount to much.

Based on what I have read, this is worse for Donny politically than it is for Jr legally. It also puts direct communication with WikiLeaks on the top table, not just Roger Stone and Cambridge Analytica.

It'll be interesting to see what the FBI heard over the wire that George Papadopoulos was wearing in London....

No stamina:
Donald Trump skips East Asia Summit on final day of 12-day tour

Donald Trump has ended a marathon trip to Asia by skipping an international summit after the event was delayed by about two hours.

The White House had added the East Asia Summit, an annual meeting of more than a dozen countries, to the president’s schedule after concerns were raised that missing it might signify a lack of US interest in Asia.

However, after a gruelling 12-day trip across five countries, Trump opted to get on Air Force One and fly back to Washington. His flight left more than 30 minutes earlier than planned and he also missed a group photo with other world leaders.

The thing with Trump is that could be anything from what he had for lunch, to a smear on Hillary, to an announcement of nuclear war.

I wonder if it's something to do with the fact that the East Asia Summit is where a lot of former TPP members are gathering, because they're all doing deals with each other at America's expense, and Trump would effectively be sidelined during the event as a result?

I think he got a trade deal with Japan, actually. Probably nowhere near as good a deal as the US would've had with the TPP though, but he'll sell it as being the best deal the US and Japan have ever done. :simper:

He'll fire the FBI director again and then assume total power over the whole country.

He’s going to publically announce that Eric and Donald Jr are disinherited and that they will be joining Tiffany in whatever basement he has her locked up in.
