US Politics - Trump cancels summit having to do with North Korea

So the government put out a survey looking for opinions on the state of the media. If you can make it through the double negatives and leading questions, you too can wonder who the strawberry float will take the results of this blatantly biased survey seriously.

The depressing thing for me is that Trump is actually right about the mainstream media, it's just that coming from him nobody takes it seriously. Nearly every story I read these days from a mainstream news site requires you to really look into it and do your own fact checking because chances are there will be a level of bullshit creating a slanted narrative.

Trump isn't trying to raise journalist standards, he simply calls everything he doesn't like fake.

I think when Fox News starts to turn on you, you're in trouble.

Let's go for the most famous example in Britain, the BBC. There are hundreds of news articles on their site, can you pick one that requires the reader to do their own separate fact checking due to a level of bullshit creating biased reporting?

That's not what is happening here, sure media needs to be more accurate, but right now you have the press of the world calling out The President of the USA as having colluded with the Russia government, he didn't even record his call to Putin, which is shocking. The media are trying to actually protect the people in this instance and are fact checking with people inside the White House, Trump even said the leaks are real, but then deflects that with cries of 'Fake News'. Trump is turning the people against the media to further his agendas, he realises he can't control the media so instead he discredits it. It so close to what Hitler did with the German media in 1933 it's almost unreal.

The narrative Trump is trying to tell the people is that the leakers are bad and the media are bad and that he is the good guy in all this. Which anyone with half a brain can see he is clearly not a good guy and clearly not the right person for the job.

I don't necessarily disagree with how the media are treating Trump, but I do wish other politicians had this same level of scrutiny. My argument is with how the mainstream media act in pretty much all walks of life, misrepresenting people and using very specific language to frame stories in certain ways. Take the Pewdiepie debacle this week. The way that story was framed, and clips taken out of context (literally lifted from videos where he was making the exact opposite point) is deeply disturbing.

As I say, it's a shame it's Trump saying this as you can't take the guy seriously, he is a joke.

I agree the media needs to be held accountable for a lot of gooseberry fool, Brexit for example, if rags like the Sun and DM had not told so many lies over the years, would the people have voted to strawberry float the country over? I doubt it, but the leftist media need to also stop stories for their own narrative.

But you can't silence the press without oppression of free speech.

I watched the whole thing, any difficult questions were met with; "oh, you're almost fake news now", if pressed; "you are fake news too". It was quite surreal, the Hungarian Nazi was pretty aggressive throughout.
