I’m not sure that is 100% true. Plenty of people on the Left knew about Weinstein and were happy to keep taking his cash. It seems like Weinstein and Spacey were open secrets in Hollywood and in the Left wing of American politics.
The difference is when things become public. The Left immediately dropped Weinstein once the allegations started coming out. The Right seems to carry on defending them even when the evidence overwhelmingly shows that Moore is a wrong ‘un.
I’ve seen examples of Republican’s saying that if the allegations are true they would still vote for Moore over a Democrat.
The American Right (and we are going the same way, if we are not there already!) is so politically polarised that people will vote for a child molester rather than somebody from the other party. It's like in their heads they think "Well he might rape kids, but he'll knock a few cents off my tax bill!"
