That won't happen in the numbers needed though - the US prison system is full of black people doing multiple years or decades of time each for low level offences, thanks to mandatory minimums pushed by racist politicians.

It’s a good story and it was nice to see somebody change their life and behaviour for the better. I am well aware that the majority will not change just because they played cribbage with a Jamaican though.

At the bottom of that story is a link to another story about a violent far right gay guy, that one is also worth reading, terrifying man but fascinating to read about.

The problem with the US is you have states where politicians will push for less and less coverage for disaster relief and upgrading infrastructure because they see it as wasteful government spending and the supporters they have love nothing more than claiming that any government spending is wasteful.
When you have a bunch of people who actively call government workers "Parasites on society and thieves and that tax is theft" it's rather hard to have much sympathy for them when they find out that the roads are all falling apart and because they stopped all funding for public transport there's zero alternative.

For those people places like London with good public transport that gets millions of people to work every day must seems like a communist hellscape.

That's part of the same accomplishment. Don't give him two credits for the same policy.

It could get better for him, if, say, there's a 9/11-grade terror attack on US soil, or he declares war on North Korea. But that's artificial inflation of his numbers based on fear/wartime patriotism, similar to how the GOP benefited from 9/11 in the 2002 midterms.

I can honestly see him declaring war just to bump his numbers.

Presumably his response to the flooding in Texas and Louisiana will boost those crucial crucial numbers to deter him from killing some people.

Even though he's not really done anything to suggest he even sympathises with those who have lost everything.

I went to Buffalo a few weeks ago on a day trip and it really is stunning what a difference it is to Canada. Everything feels like it's just falling apart there infeastructure wise.

Oh they say tax is theft as well or at least they do on the politics forum and they say it with such conviction it's almost admirable in a "You're strawberry floating off your rocker mate!!" kind of way which to be fair would confuse the hell out of them.
