The wiretap news must surely impact with the house and senate GOP. Not only did he make an allegation based on nothing, he's continued to not row it back, in fact eventually embroiling the UK and Germany in it. And it has all been self inflicted. With this embarassment in the Oval Office, collusion or not, Putin has got what he wanted.

Probably not, but a new Gallup poll released today showed Trump's approval ratings hitting a new low since he was inaugurated:

President Donald Trump’s approval rating is at a low 37 percent, according to Gallup daily tracking poll results released Monday.

A solid majority of Americans polled, 58 percent, said they disapprove of the president’s job performance.

The results represent Trump’s worst results in the poll since his inauguration in January and a swing from just over a week ago, on March 11, when 45 percent of those surveyed told Gallup they approved of the president’s job performance (49 percent said they disapproved then).

As recorded by Gallup, Trump’s approval rating has been under water every day since his inauguration except for three, and for many of those days, the poll registered majority disapproval of the president.

Former President Barack Obama’s low point in the Gallup tracking poll was 38 percent job approval, which he hit a few times (he averaged 47.9 percent over his presidency). Former President George W. Bush’s lowest approval rating in the poll was 25 percent.

The tracking poll, based on a three-day rolling average, has a sample size of about 1,500 adults and a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Meanwhile, Ivanka's getting a West Wing office of her own now:

In everything but name, the first daughter is settling in as what appears to be a full-time staffer in her father’s administration, with a broad and growing portfolio — except she is not being sworn in, will hold no official position, and is not pocketing a salary, her attorney said.

Ivanka Trump’s role, according to her attorney Jamie Gorelick, will be to serve as the president’s “eyes and ears” while providing broad-ranging advice, not just limited to women’s empowerment issues. Last week, for instance, Ivanka Trump raised eyebrows when she was seated next to Angela Merkel for the German chancellor’s first official visit to Trump’s White House.

As her role in the White House grows — a role that comes with no playbook — Ivanka Trump plans to adhere to the same ethics and records retention rules that apply to government employees, Gorelick said, even though she is not technically an employee. But ethics watchdogs immediately questioned whether she is going far enough to eliminate conflicts of interest, especially because she will not be automatically subjected to certain ethics rules while serving as a de facto White House adviser.

How long before Trump brings his other kids in too?

One day, I know we'll meet again, under the Iron Sky...

Do you mean Heck? He's a Democrat representative. The 'Rep.' before their name always throws me off at first.

The (D) or (R) tells you which party they belong to.

First of a three part documentary, American Justice, is on BBC2 now.

American Justice
9pm, BBC2
Debut of a bracing new three-part documentary filmed inside the legal system of Jacksonville, Florida. The US justice apparatus is, for better and for worse, more directly democratically accountable than most – and in this particular jurisdiction, voters tend to return officials with a vindictive approach. The cameras follow police investigating a double murder in a trailer park, against the backdrop of an uncompromising state attorney’s campaign for re-election. Andrew Mueller

Trumps signed a bill today giving NASA $19bn to help fund a manned mission to Mars.

He's a crazy nutjob but fair play on that one.

I wonder if this is because he wants to go down in history as a crazy nutjob that put a man on Mars rather than just a crazy nutjob.

Fox staff must be scared

They're paid to tell bullshit but Trump watches and if he repeats their bullshit they're likely to be fired.
Quite the dilemma

Turns out the FBI did have Trump's wires tapped.

Russian mafia boss still at large after FBI wiretap at Trump Tower

There, indeed, was an FBI wiretap involving Russians at Trump Tower.

But it was not placed at the behest of Barack Obama, and the target was not the Trump campaign of 2016. For two years ending in 2013, the FBI had a court-approved warrant to eavesdrop on a sophisticated Russian organized crime money-laundering network that operated out of unit 63A in Trump Tower in New York.

The FBI investigation led to a federal grand jury indictment of more than 30 people, including one of the world’s most notorious Russian mafia bosses, Alimzhan Tokhtakhounov. Known as the “Little Taiwanese,” he was the only target to slip away, and he remains a fugitive from American justice.
