I hope she runs! I loved seeing the comedy sketches of her on Saturday Night Live, she provides so much ammo for the satirists.

God I hope Palin isn't chosen as their representative. If Margaret Thatcher thinks you're nuts then something must be seriously wrong with you :fp:

Looking forward to seeing more of Jonathon Sharkey's awesome mustache and being a 'vampire' thing and hearing the name Newt Gringrich used in a serious debate.

My god the thought of Mormons running the USA is pretty scary.

I knew nothing about Mormonism until now.

I hope Ron Paul gets it, although that seems to be highly unlikely.

I wonder what would happen if he got in. I can't imagine that he would be able to impose any of his beliefs on the country as the new laws wouldn't get through the senate surely. So his religion shouldn't matter.

Not to mention that up until the late 70's they were extremely racist and still are in some churches.

I have tried working out why anyone who's not rich would vote Republican and I just can't do it. From my woefully inadequate view the party loves tax cuts for the rich and being as shitty as they can get away with to most workers through curbs on unions and workers rights. They also love guns and think the constitution was written by a bunch of prescient superheroes and that it's somehow even more relevant now than it was a few hundred years ago. They think anyone who thinks the Government can solve any problem is filthy socialist scum who is obviously a closet Nazi.
They just seem like all the crazy parts of the UK Conservative party but they move everything up to an 11.

Maybe it's just me but I would never vote for them and I doubt anyone on here is rich enough that the policies they seem to champion would help rather than hinder.

What about Michele Bachmann? She announced her candidacy a day or two ago. She's a lot like Sarah Palin, but is a more credible candidate according to... I dunno, some guy. I forget. Anyway! She's anti-homosexuality, anti-abortion, and pro teaching intelligent design in schools. A terrifying prospect if she were to unexpectedly steal the election.

The republicans basically if you're poor and in poverty its your own fault and its up to the individual to help themselves, not the state.
This is why self-made rich folk 'living the american dream' get tax cuts whilst they oppose Obama's healthcare bill.

I know we have some scroungers in this country but there are people that really need handouts from the state and Universal Healthcare. I'd rather a clean conscience knowing my tax pounds are saving lives and feeding the needy than paying less and watching my fellow man starve.

okay so, who will actually win the race for the GOP ticket?

If Palin runs (which I think she will) then she'll probably be the favourite, imo. Other than that Romney or Newty.

Romney for me. Unless Palin manages to get evangelicals and the tea party behind her en mass she's far too divisive.

Any chance of Ron Paul getting this? He seems to be one of the few republicans with his head screwed on.

Zero chance. I'd like to see him break away and run as an independent. He'd make more of an impact that way.
