We generally try and avoid directly bombing Russians though.

I wouldn't take what is coming out of America or Russia at face value. It really doesn't mean a damn thing any more. They could be on the same page, they may not. I guess only time will tell.

Love affair is going awry...

Nigel Farage: I am very surprised by this. I think a lot of Trump voters will be waking up this morning and scratching their heads and saying "where will it all end?"

As a firm Trump supporter, I say, yes, the pictures were horrible, but I'm surprised. Whatever Assad's sins, he is secular. Previous interventions in the Middle East have made things worse rather than better.

UKIP leader, Paul Nuttem: The US bombing of Syria was rash, trigger happy, nonsensical and will achieve nothing. I hoped for better.

Why are people still asking these banana splits for a comment? Who gives a flying strawberry float what Farage or Nuttem have to say about anything? Bah!

To such Trump supports: welcome to reality. We've been dealing with it since November.

I guess it's interesting to watch their love in fall apart. Typically of any extreme right/ left wing group. Always descending into infighting.

One downside to attacking Syria overnight for Trump is that it rather detracts from the biggest success of his Presidency. Gorusch has just been confirmed to the Supreme court, but it's not going to generate too many headlines today.

So people are starting to realise how unstable and unpredictable the man is. Welcome to the party lads.

Congress wouldn't approve his plans, IIRC, so he sent troops in to advise with explicit orders not to engage in offensive operations.

I'm pretty sure an unpopular corrupt president with ties to the KKK starting a war in the middle east to improve his opinion polling is the plot of the new season of House of Cards. This is some strange viral advertising by Netflix.

The way i see this is that US isn't going to do anything else unless they believe Syria uses chemical weapons again.

It does however make a mockery though of all the claims that Putin is controlling Trump.

Links and theories. Let's see how the investigation pans out. I suspect it will end in a similar manner to the investigation into Hillary.

Assad is nothing but a convenient pawn for Putin, one he's helping out as a means to get at the West. Putin has gotten what he wanted out of the Syrian conflict (the arrival of refugees possibly ousting governments opposed to him), and so now he'd rather help Trump out, even if it means hurting his relationship with Assad. Either that, or Trump made this move in the hope that the public sees it like you do. His base will (y'know, the ones who didn't believe the Russia connection to begin with), but people at large will take more convincing. Doubly so FBI, et al.

Well, that was $70million well spent.
