This guy and his supporters are unbelievable. He could literally poop on the constitution and the republicans would come out and support him saying "Well he's not your typical politician".

So I wonder if Paul Ryan remembers saying that Hilary should receiving classified briefings because she had been careless with sensitive information?

It’s going to be interesting how long the Republicans hold on before deciding enough is enough. Until at least the midterms, Trump cannot be impeached without his own party turning on him. They must be wondering what is more damaging, impeaching their own president or letting these scandals continue to mount up.

Unless something really major happens, I think they will be waiting, or at least trying to wait, for the midterms to see how well they do. If the results are roughly the same as the last election they will keep Easy D, if they lose ground they may well decide enough is enough. If they get badly beaten then it is out of their hands and the Democrats can do it.

A lot of republicans seem to be more than happy to piss off their constituencies to get some of their plans through.

Very true. There will be a point that even they cannot continue to support Trump, but I think we are some way from that as they don't really care as long as they are still in power. A Republican in a safe seat has little to fear due to the extreme tribal nature of US politics.

I don't think you understand just how deluded some US conservatives are and they will continue to blame filthy unpatriotic liberals for everything because they just can't accept that their side can be wrong.
They will find a way to blame liberals for Trump blurting out secrets to the Russians.

While secretly telling Trump that he was born in the Sudan after all?
It all makes perfect sense :o .

I hope you have room for that Pulitzer you just bagged for yourself.

I'm fully expecting the blame to land on the intelligence agencies for telling Trump in the first place since they should totally know what kind of character they're dealing with now.

Wouldn't be surprised if the rumor about the intelligence agencies holding back "the good stuff" during briefings begins to actually happen, if it hasn't already started.

Eliot Cohen, another Bush-era State Department official and professor of strategic studies at Johns Hopkins School of International Studies, called the report "appalling."

"If accidental, it would be a firing offense for anyone else," Cohen tweeted. "If deliberate, it would be treason."

...

Even if Trump shared only minimal information that was considered highly classified, a number of experts said, it is a stark reminder of the lingering concerns many intelligence professionals have about entrusting sensitive national security information to a president who has dismissed their expertise and has no prior experience in government or the military.

The president is authorized by law to make public any and all classified information he or she sees fit — so anything that Trump may have shared of a classified nature was his prerogative.

But that doesn't mean doing so doesn't have the same repercussions as if someone purposely leaked classified information to cause damage, specialists said.

“It is not a legal issue. It is a question of competence and national security awareness. If the story is accurate the president fell short in those vital areas," said Steve Aftergood, a specialist on government secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists. "At face value, it appears that the president behaved recklessly and thoughtlessly and may have compromised a vital intelligence source."

...

The fallout among allied spy agencies overseas is also likely to be immediate, predicted White, who has briefed dozens of allied leaders and officials on security matters.

"It probably confirms to them that he is a loose cannon," he said. "They might all start looking into how much they might want to give the United States of a sensitive nature, particularly if this reveals sources and methods."

Mr President is awake! After Republicans spent yesterday denying that Trump said anything and declaring it 'fake news', let's see what Trump has to say:

twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/864436162567471104

twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/864438529472049152

So he admits it happened then, sorry Republicans

A reminder about the info that was divulged to the Russians, during a visit where only Russian media was allowed in, the day after he fired the FBI Director:
A Middle Eastern ally that closely guards its own secrets provided the information, which was considered so sensitive that American officials did not share it widely within the United States government or pass it on to other allies.

Why doesn't he spill the good stuff so we can all finally learn of the secrets of Area 51. Such a tease. Bad!

They really need to put somebody else in charge, but let Trump pretend to still be President. He loves Fox News so he can just sit there watching that all day, while tweeting his outrage at everything. Just get somebody to pop in every so often to say “Is there anything you need Mr President? Yes we are carrying out all of your orders Mr President” and he’d never know the difference.

He's not actually broken the law on this one, the President is allowed to declassify anything he likes and can tell people anything he likes.

The security services must be shitting themselves at what he is going to reveal next. And I highly doubt they will be getting any information from any other countries until Trump has gone.

They're going to have to start telling Trump false information that he can share without any damage being caused.

"That's right, Vlad, I've seen the papers confirming the Chinese Moon Base, they're stockpiling fake iPhones up there..."
