Alternatively, going easy on Trump could make us look complicit with him to whoever ends up as the next President. If a Democrat President is elected, they may well view us as friends of Trump and be more open to trade deals with the EU than the UK.

We are best off sticking to the principle that we need to trade with America, but without being so desperate that we agree with the President retweeting Britain First hate speech and lies.

I don't think Trump's behaviour can be excused by dementia. He has a long, long history of this pattern of behaviour.

I think he's probably just a psychopath, or at least a sociopath.

I agree, it’s lazy to just assume he is suffering from dementia, especially when you look at the way he has acted for decades.

This is just his personality. He’s just a spiteful narcissist who is not very bright. It’s actually impressive that somebody like him managed to convince tens of millions of Americans to vote for him.
