Will Paul Ryan be ok if Trump fires Mueller? This is the only reason for this memo surely.

The memo is Trump's pretext for firing Rosenstein, appointing a solid lackey to the post, and throttling the entire investigation without firing Mueller.

The FBI's investigation began well before the dossier reached them.

It’s a contemptible piece of politicking designed to appeal to a certain type of deplorable.

If you still think the ‘entire dossier is massively shady’ is some sort productive discussion starter rather than a badge of ineptitude then you are not the sort of person it’s worth getting engaged with.

Thing is it doesn’t actually matter what the memo says - it’s fired up the base

I’ve already seen comments:

- it proves the FBI lied to courts
- it proves the Dems and the FBI conspired to rig election for Hillary
- it shows ‘a bigger crime than watergate’
- half the FBI management should be in jail
- the entire Mueller investigation must be closed (‘fruit of poison tree’ principal)
-And other hyperbole

Even if the memo was sacrosanct and accurate - it doesn’t say any of that.

It just an excerise in firing up the ignorant and making them believe their already held opinions even more strongly (somehow)

The one claim worth anything in the Nunes memo is that they FBI did not tell the court the source of the Steele dossier. This is their response:

"The Majority suggests that the FBI failed to alert the court as to Mr. Steele’s potential political motivations or the political motivations of those who hired him, but this is not accurate."

Seems to me that the Trump administration is panicking about the ongoing investigation. Lashing out with misleading stuff like this just makes them look more guilty.

I thought the dossier was originally paid for by Republicans running against Trump who then handed it to Clinton after they lost the primaries?
