I don't think the journalists are really needed ATM. What we need is some actual charges to be brought against Trump et al. I think the FBI are worried and are trying to build the strongest case possible because they're a little worried he'll be able to slip the charges.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Trump and his team will use any and all tactics to try and dismiss any charges and claim they're illegitimate so they need to be completely watertight and even if they are Fox News will make up a load of old bollocks to try and muddy the waters anyway.

Trump's new budget would eliminate funding for NPR & PBS, gut funding for a program that brings doctors and nurses to under-served rural communities, would privatize the International Space Station, etc.

It amazes me to see so many Americans claim publicly funded news is somehow evil and always liberal. It's like they can't fathom that just because the BBC gets government funding doesn't mean the government can tell the news desk what to write about.
I can point to the BBC getting politicians on all sides fired due to good journalism but they always come back with the idea that public funding = state owned media.

They don't even see the irony of Trump having his own strawberry floating news station.

I won't even start on how some Americans feel about healthcare as it pretty much boils down to "I'm not paying taxes to help pay for someone else's treatment" which is about moronic as it gets. The simple idea that I help pay for others to get treated so then when I need treatment they can pay for me doesn't seem to get through to them.

I mean if they pay for private health care anyway this argument doesn't apply in all situations

But that's not even the point because "saving people's lives" should be a pretty convincing argument on its own

I always find it odd that generally speaking the people most against abortion are also the most against state healthcare.

So yesterday was one of those days when there was too much shocking Trump news. When any one story could be a scandal for weeks, but with it all happening at once the narrative is split.

So Michael Cohen admitted to paying Stormy Daniels, but the money came from his own account. No really that's the argument. :fp: Not that it matters:

Then of course Christopher Wray gave a complete accounting of the backgrounds checks on Rob Porter which basically showed Kelly and Sanders have been lying through their teeth. :fp: :fp:

Oh and then whole of the US Intelligence Community said that Russia will interfere in the Mid Terms but not one of them has been instructed by Trump to do anything about it. :fp: :fp: :fp:

Why don't they just act on their own initiative? This is basic national security stuff, they shouldn't need the POTUS to micro manage it.

Pinching someone else's summary

He paid $130,000 of his own money to protect someone who has not reimbursed him (directly or indirectly) to someone so they would stop spreading false allegations, i.e. slander.

Normally that might be a sensible policy, but there need to be safeguards in place to act without the president signing off, at least in extraordinary circumstances like these.

Well somebody sure had fun in Khan’s crime-addled cesspit...

Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin improperly accepted a gift of Wimbledon tickets during a work trip to Europe last summer in which he spent the majority of the time sightseeing, according to a blistering new report released by the VA's Office of Inspector General.

The 11-day trip to Copenhagen and London cost taxpayers at least $122,334, the report said

The delegation flew commercially to London to attend a veterans conference. But over half of the secretary's six days there were spent sightseeing, including a trip on the London Eye, a river cruise down the Thames, and the Wimbledon tennis tournament, according to the report.

As Stormy Daniels gets ready to “tell her story” about a night in July 2006 when she allegedly had sex with Donald Trump, she may have a way to back it up, The Blast reported.

The porn star has a “Monica Lewinsky dress,” the site said, citing sources close to Daniels. Daniels’ dress is a gold mini dress she wore during the alleged tryst in a Lake Tahoe hotel with the man who would become president.

She’s kept the dress “in pristine condition” and plans to have it forensically tested for samples of hair, skin or “anything else” that would contain DNA, reported The Blast, which also shared a photo of the dress in its report.

On Wednesday, a manager for Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, told the Associated Press that a non-disclosure agreement the actress signed to keep the president’s secrets is no longer valid.

That’s because Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen violated the agreement himself by disclosing on Tuesday that he personally paid Daniels $130,000 in “a private transaction,” just before Election Day, Gina Rodriguez, a manager for Daniels, told the Associated Press. Cohen’s disclosure to The New York Times was followed by a story in the Daily Beast that reported that the lawyer was shopping a book proposal that would address Daniels’ story.

The fact that Cohen is commenting on the six-figure payout means Daniels is free to tell her side, Rodriguez said to the Associated Press.

The Blast also reported earlier that Daniels’ representatives have contacted Trump’s legal team to inform them that she believes she’s free to spill details of the alleged encounter, which she says took place at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe in July 2006.

“Everything is off now, and Stormy is going to tell her story,” Rodriguez told The Blast.

Following the alleged encounter, which took place four months after Trump’s third wife, Melania Trump, gave birth to their son, Barron, Daniels told friends about it. She also detailed her alleged extramarital relationship with Trump in a 2011 interview that was published on the celebrity website The Dirty. Moreover, she shared her story with In Touch in 2011, but that outlet didn’t publish her story at the time.
