Capcom's Chief Financial Officer, Kazuhiko Abe, has offered a glimmer of hope for Wii owners hoping to some day see a downgraded release of PS3 and 360 games on the system.

While highlighting stronger-than-expected sales of Resident Evil 5, Abe says "We have not decided whether we are doing it or not doing it". "It" being releasing 360 & PS3 games on the Wii. Not decided?

He follows that with "Up until now, after releasing our PS3 and Xbox 360 games, we have brought them to the Wii. Basically, this is the approach we are considering taking."

They would need to strip it down but if they took out Sheva some people would actually be pleased.

I'm not sure how they could take out Sheva entirely. Perhaps you could just control one character, but it could be either one. Or you could alternate between the two.

I'd rather have an original RE for Wii instead of a watered-down port, which this would be.

A diluted port of an already average game? Nah, you're alright Capcom.

I would have preferred it if they made Degeneration for the Wii using the Resi 4 engine, but why do that when you can just make an on-rails shooter...

Yeah, the aiming would be nice but I'd rather they just used the RE4 Wii engine and banged out a side story involving Barry. Replace the "melee" system with witty one liners that cause the enemies to cringe to death and you've got a winner.

They're just going to contract someone like Tose and tell them to try and recreate RE5 in 12 months on a limited budget.

There's no way Capcom would give such a project the time, money, and talent it requires.

That sounds negative, but you know Tose would manage it. They'd probably have it looking like the X360 version in six months.

Didn't Tose do Dead Rising CTYD?

And that's being kind. Resi 5 is mostly very poor and we don't need several versions of it, ta.

There's no need to be here any longer than necessary. Let's split up, look for survivors, and get out of here.

Stripped down ports are not the way to go. Make an RE5 Gaiden, if you must.

Agreed. The Wii isn't built to house games that are simply downgraded from higher-powered machines, it should be housing titles built fromt he ground up for the console.
Instead of all this Chronicles nonsense, why not create an entirely new RE game using 4's engine?

Although I wouldn't mind seeing a new Devil May Cry game on Wii, either. Imagine that with the remote!

It could work, if they used the RE4 engine wholesale. It would work a lot better than DR:CTYD, as the engine is designed for this kind of game specifically. Not sure if I'd want it, though. I wasn't a fan of the 360 version (although mainly for the controls), but I love the controls of RE4:Wii.
