Well this is interesting

If I weren't having great fun playing with a friend I might have packed it in. (Just finished Chapter 3 on Leon's Campaign).

It's all just a bit...lackluster.

It's a shame but there's not really been a single memorable/particularly thrilling section so far...They just seem to be doing it "by the numbers". It's all a bit pedestrian. So far I've been in ravaged city, spookey church, underground lab, underground temple, underground mine, spookey caves (don't get me started how we went down down down to the centre of the earth - only to pop back up at ground level after going down a slide :S). They just seem to be throwing ideas from last games at the screen.
The few times they have seemed to set up an good "Event" it's normally let down by zombies coming from all directions (above, vents etc) so rather than a tense last stand, it just becomes a frantic mess with melee being the only way out.

The few changes they have made are baffling. Who decided the headshots would be useless against "normal" Zombies - taking the time to aim, only for it to take 6 shots to the noggin to take them down is annoying. It's far safer (it seems) to just blast them mindlessly till they drop...or go in an Melee...which seems to be the most overpowered element...in a ZOMBIE (or close :P) game. And I can trip over Zombies! And if the ground shakes I lose control and stagger! And there's a quick time event (either cutscene or enemy grab) every 10 seconds.

Having said all that I'm enjoying it - it's got enough happening that if you're playing with a mate you can talk/chat/laugh about the game.

Mercs has always been hugely over rated.

Brerlappin wrote:Anung as usual is the only mummy strawberry floater up in here who knows whats going on. RE6 Mercs is the best thing in Resi since RE4, and the RE6 control scheme works strawberry floating brilliantly when you learn it. Mercs is strawberry floating phenomenal, but I guess its easier to just not learn how the mechanics work and go WAAAH WAAAH IT SUCKS like a puny weak baby 8-)

Or. When ,refs is the main thing you talk about for a Resi game, you know it's gooseberry fool. I loved it when there was a decent single player and a little mercs add on. :x

The way Leon trips over every zombie body on the floor instead of, y'know, just stepping over them like a normal person.

I'm strawberry floating around in the menu and it appears you can't turn off the marker that tells you exactly where to go at all times without also turning off the entire HUD. :fp:

Also, (I complained about this in the demo) why the strawberry float is Leon such a gooseberry fool aim? During the first zombie encounter I'm looking right at the banana splits and the red dot is nowhere to be seen. Shooting strawberry floating blanks while pointing right at them.

I'm gonna enjoy shitting on this game even more than I did Hitman Absolution.

I've always enjoyed Mercs but never really gave it much time in RE6 because the main campaign was so ass, apart from Sherry. :datass:

Just completed the first Leon chapter. Man, there are some classic Resident Evil moments scattered in here, just a shame they're outnumbered by the modern action game bloat. There's the makings of a great game but the devs went in the wrong direction. 1st chapter was alright. Definitely not bad, just ok. I hate how linear and hand-holdy it is and there's no puzzles of any kind beyond finding a key to a locked door which is generally in the room where you just were. There's also something about the game's lighting that I hate. It's way too dark, even when there's lights, it's still so dark and you can't see a zombie lying on the floor in front of you.

Gonna leave chapter 2 until tomorrow.
