Digging out the Resident Evil 2 strategy guide, it says "Be careful you don't inadvertently move the statues in the wrong direction (LOL!): once they go against a wall, it's impossible to move them out again (and thus time to reload)."

I can't remember if I left the room and came back in but I would have thought I'd have tried that.

Should I just lower the difficulty ? I think my issues stem from the reliance on the awful knife and not having as much time nowadays to wander around puzzling.

Yes, lower the difficulty, only use the gun (and more powerful weapons you find) and look up very odd puzzles in GameFAQs so you spend less time on illogical puzzles.

Also, save as often as you can to avoid wasting a couple of hours that you then need to do again.

I'd say the exact opposite - increase the difficulty and aim for an 'A' grade by not saving at all and not using any first aid sprays. The way it's meant to be played.

Don't kill zombies unless you absolutely need to - better to lose a bit of health dodging than waste ammo AND time, because you'll also need to burn them. DON'T set yourself up for hordes of crimsons later on...

Save the magnum for the final boss.

I wonder if there will be any hope of being able to skip door animations in RE2make if it is indeed of the static camera variety? It started to piss me off in this yesterday, especially once the doorknob next to the right hand side item box room broke. :| You can skip them in the PC versions of 2 & 3 (and the DS version of 1, ffs!) so why not include it as an option? There's no way they're necessary for loading purposes in this day and age.

You know this supposed to happen right? I enjoy the door sequences, gives you a break from the relentless death.

Just because it's supposed to happen doesn't mean it's enjoyable. All it does is make you traverse all the way around & upstairs for 2 minutes to get back there.

Why can't Chris just leave the door open when he's dropping gooseberry fool off in the item box? :|

No reason not to make them optional.

Imagine leaving doors open :dread: You'd walk into a room full of hunters that had followed you there.

That would be a cool mechanic to add. Leave them closed but less chance of anything walking in, leave them open, prey for death.

I don't know what Hunters are, but now I'm getting scared of finding out.

I looked at a video of where the shotgun is. I've even been in that bloody room and I missed it. strawberry float. I also learnt thanks to this thread how to use the map properly. I had no idea green meant clear of everything good.

This was the problem I had when I originally played this on the GC. If I'd realised I could see what bits needed doing I probably would have played the GC version a bit longer.

You don't have to worry until youve been to the outhouse and back again.

It's certainly going to make things easier when I get back home and play again.

Is the outhouse the area at the top right of the map? I finally have the key to go there I think (if it's a shield key I need).

The door sequences is just a disguise for loading the next area.

Were crimsons a feature of the original version of the game? It's been so long since I played it, can barely remember anything about it other than the bad voice acting

I haven't got any of them yet. Part of the problem is me being stupid when it comes to clearing rooms. Where I never found the item boxes until recently I couldn't carry all the gooseberry fool.

:slol: oh god. Well thats your main task. Have you been out into the garden yet? The door at the top of the first flight of stairs in the main hall?

Yeah I went out there. I thought that was where I was meant to go so I went there really early, pretty much the first place I went. Picked up the book of curses and realised I couldn't do anything with it yet so put it back.
