Bopopolis is amazing. So satisfying to complete.

I stopped at the last few levels. They didn't seem too bad, but I wanted to play something else at that point.

I stopped playing once the credits rolled but I enjoyed DKC:TF....some of the levels towards the end are so irritating

Aaaaaand done. All levels completed, hard mode unlocked. The K levels were actually pretty easy (all things considered), especially the last three in world 7. I was expecting something next to impossible but breezed through them after 5 or 6 attempts tonight in a half hour spell.

The normal world K levels started off pretty tough, in the first two worlds in particular. Level 2-K almost drove me insane, but then the third and 4th were easy enough. 5-K was difficult again and world 6-K was a joke, so much so that I completed it on my first go.

Kinda disapointed actually with how average the end game was difficulty wise. DCKR on the Wii is definitely the tougher game. Mind you, if they were more difficult I'd be in here raging about them, calling the game gooseberry fool so I guess it's a lose-lose situation.

Sorry to drag this thread up from the depths...

I'm thinking about taking the plunge on this game, since I can get a 40% discount due to the myNintendo rewards, making it cost about £12.

The game looks fantastic, but my concern is that it is going to be too hard for my puny gaming skills.

Am I likely to get some decent enjoyment out of it, or will it just feel like a slog?

To give you an idea of my gaming ability:
A much younger me finished Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and the original Donkey Kong Country

I got to the Bowsery type level on Super Mario 3D World, but had to give up (actually that may be because I found the game a bit of a chore tbh)

I got about halfway through New Super Mario Bros U (but I'm about to try again on that one)

I didn't get that far in Donkey Kong Country Returns (maybe world 2 or 3?)

Is this game going to kick my ass in a bad way? Or is it harsh, fair and fun?

It's brilliant you should definitely get it. There's no waggle so if that's a problem you had with DKCR you'll be better with this. Parts of it are challenging but it has checkpointing and you can buy extra lives to get you through tough parts. It's one of, if not the best game on WiiU so I'd get it regardless of the challenge.

It's one of the best platforms of all time! You will love it. It's colourful, crazy fun. The levels are amazing - far from a slog and so satisfying once completed.

Plus it has by far the best sound track of this generation.

A much younger me finished Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and the original Donkey Kong Country

The the older you will have no problem. Finishing the main levels isn't that tough - it's collecting all the secrets which is.

I got to the Bowsery type level on Super Mario 3D World, but had to give up (actually that may be because I found the game a bit of a chore tbh)

I gave up on Mario 3D World too - it was a chore, and a bore! And this is coming from someone who completed every other Mario Game.

Tropical Freeze is much more fun that Mario 3D World.

I didn't get that far in Donkey Kong Country Returns (maybe world 2 or 3?)

Nor did I. Tropical Freeze is in a different league!

It's fair and fun, and you will fall in love with it :)

If you just want to get to the end then it's not THAT difficult. Definitely a challenge but none moreso than the previous DKC games. It's the collecting and bonus levels that up the difficulty considerably. It's still easier overall than DKCR on the Wii, mind. I actually 100%'d this but I couldn't complete the Wii version :slol:

Yes. But I felt it had a better difficulty curve then Returns with far fewer spikes. Plus they added the ability to buy lots of items to make things easier if you want. Like balloons which refill your air meter, saving when you fall in a pit, I think extra health when riding the Mine Cart or Rocket Barrel. Temporary invincibility. I never used any of them so I cant say how helpful they are. But I did have loads of bananas to spend on them if I wanted. Its tough but brilliant.

Also the soundtrack is chuffing amazing.

Indeed, it is an easier game than DKCR. Some of the K levels in that game had me tearing my hair out. The barrel one in particular took me 40 attempts.

Tropical Freeze is no slouch. But it does a better job of telegraphing what it needs you to do in those on rails/rocket barrel levels.

Necroooo bump.

Dug out the Wii U and put this on. Turns out I was a reasonable way through it, just got up to the 5th (I think) set of worlds having just done the puffer fish boss.

Forgot how great it looks too, plus the new t.v. is doing a great job of upscaling it so it looks really nice.

That soundtrack too

My favourite Wii U game. Killer graphics, one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, and rock hard.

This needs a second chance on Switch as it was a complete sales flop.

I think I'm at about 96% complete. Only a few of the super tough hidden levels to go.

Sadly my Wii U is all packed up, so I doubt I'll ever 100% it...

I'd love to see retro take the next game to a Mario odysee style 3d adventure game.

This is great, I don't know why I didn't play more of it when I got it. Probably one of those years where I got 10 games or something daft and dropped it for something shiny and forgot about it (like I did with pikmin 3) .

Just did 5 something, juicy jungle. Fantastic graphics and great music. I love that each stage has something in it that's great fun but is unique to the level.

:o . I'd thought that you had packed away (binned) your U, Ad? I recall that Xenoblade X was a real hit with you last year and now DK is taking over the end of 2017... amazing scenes :toot: .

I've finished Mario odysee now so there's nothing left on switch to play, so the U has to fill the Christmas feels void.
