Some of the scores were unfairly harsh. 7 isn't a bad score but I don't agree with it. It's one of the best platforming games in years for me.

Finished all the K levels. :D Thought K-6 was easily the weakest but I think I enjoyed them more then the ones in Returns. Mainly because there were no electric flying wasp things. I hated those. :dread: Unlocked world 7. So much better then the floating fruit level in Returns. Absolutly brutal though. You will die. A lot. However the levels are actually still good fun and even though they are difficult some sections you can really get into a rythem, blasting through. Unlocked hard mode but strawberry float that.

Just got some jigsaw pieces to find and I'm done. Some of these are really well hidden. But must unlock concept art. I've loved it. Stick on 9 for me.

6-K definitely wasn't that bad. 2-K and 5-K were my stumbling blocks. Both insanely well designed and utterly devious in level design. It may have been made harder by the fact that I did them with DK only.

6-K was the least enjoyable for me. The others were difficult but the pay off when it clicked and you progressed was great. :datass: Not so much in 6-K. Just didn't flow. I don't know which was the most difficult.

Apparently pressing a button to hold a vine is a strange mechanic. :? I do agree on the boss fights, just I'm not sure its a lack of checkpoints but rather the boss itself that is the issue for me. As the fights for Worlds 1, 2 and 5 were ace.

100% everything up to World 2 Boss, Got all Kong and Puzzle Pieces for Worlds 3&4 too

So much more fun to 100% than Mario.

I'm in total agreement with you there - 1, 2 and 5 are really great bosses, inventive and challenging in a really fun way. World 3's boss I found completely infuriating (just couldn't quite get a handle on their final pattern, and they constantly seemed to be throwing bombs exactly where I needed to be to attack) while 4 is just a bit too fiddly to be fun, albeit quite a bit easier than 3. 6 was a pretty good fight on the whole, but the insta-death element made it a little more frustrating, and having to go back all that way after getting killed by his powerful later attacks got a bit much at times. In order, I'd probably go 5 > 2 > 1 > 6 > 4 > 3. The animation on all of them is excellent, though.

The swimming physics (especially when compared to Rayman Legends) are so fiddly...

The pressing a button to hold a vine is a bit weird when compared to other games which do it automatically... It feels a bit, iffy in a way...

Getting sent to the start of a boss is incredibly infuriating... 2nd boss of the 4 I've done so far was my least favourite...

I'm surprised someone else had issues with the water levels. I had figured out the controls by the end of the world though.

Boss 5 is the best. Genuine laugh from me in the intro of his fight. Him turning more purple as the fight went on was a nice touch.

World 3 boss:

At the end of the battle when they are throwing bombs, the best place to be is crouched directly in the middle. The bombs never land there. I found that when they eventually throw a green bomb, you had plenty of time to get to it and throw it at them before it exploded.

Done, splendid.

I'll unlock whatever secrets the game holds behind the final boss but I can't see it being anything breathtaking so I'll sum up now.

Despite some early reservations as to the amount of action in the levels Ive grown to really love this, Retro have done it again. I don't think it has the wow factor of the original, that seemed to come like a bolt from the blue at the time I had no idea 2D platformers could be that good again whereas this, while a worthy sequel, doesn't have that wide eyed grinning enjoyment from start to finish. The addition of the extra characters is a great one, they allow for some real variation in how you approach the levels and bosses and each are suitably different to justify their inclusion, ironically Diddy Kong ends up being the most superfluous. The enemy design has a fantastic theming to it as do the worlds, even if they aren't as memorable and exciting as Returns. Music is generally pretty fab and the difficulty is magnificently judged as you always know it's your fault for failing and despite being strawberry floating tough in places it never is just downright cheap and annoying which is what I found SM3DW to be.

It's like your me. Although I might swap 2 and 1 purely because I find the circus act a little more amusing.

May have spoken a bit soon there Hard mode is a lovely addition and gives you a way to play through with other characters which is nice, can't see myself doing the whole thing like it but it's a nice bonus.

All Jigsaw and KONGs done now

This is utterly magnificent

I'm so glad they got David Wise for the soundtrack, this is the rare game where I won't have a podcast on in one earphone just because I want to experience the music in all of its glory. Really does give the game an engrossing atmosphere, which is helped by the very imaginative level design.

Rather glum to see that those time attack golds are as hard to reach as they were in DKCR though ;_;
