Rare have a dedicated thread and as Retro are very much the 90s Rare of the 00s onward and you know still make good games I thought they deserved their own thread given we're surely going to see their new game at E3.

First time in decade or so that they've had significantly more power to play with so it should be very interesting to see what they can do with it. What would everyone's dream IP for them be, or alternatively something new?

Alvin posted some rumour in the WiiU thread from Gaf...

Retro's game is a new StarTropics. For the uninformed, it's a very, very old Nintendo IP that has a bit of a cult following and that some people have been hoping they'd make because of the Metroid/Zelda/Earthbound-like style.

Apparently they've been hiring staff from Naughty Dog too, which is bloody delicious thought.

I would love them to do an hd metroid. Either 2d or 3d. They could probably so a new starfox game justice also. I just worry that something new might turn out shoddy.

Prime.

Easiest decision ever.

The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them in parliament.

This, although I haven't played DKCR at length and wasn't even aware they did Mario Kart 7... I thought they just provided some assets, or took care of one section of the game?

I would love for Retro to be given the opportunity to create its own IP, ideally some kind of Killzone beater. I loved the Metroid Prime games, but I think that their talents should go toward something new and big and boomy.

Oh god, someone give them the rights to do a Warhammer 40k game.

I'd put Corruption and DKCR above Prime, though a large part of my love for the former was how fun it was to control.

I know people talk about lots of Nintendo franchises being missing for a while, but for me it's criminal that we haven't had a good Starfox game since the mid-90s.

I'd love to see Retro put they're golden touch on that universe.

StarFox is boring, let's not waste them on that lost cause.

HD Mario paint?

I'd be all over that.

Retro are going to be making the spiritual sequel to either Startropics or Takamura's.

I look forward to anything Retro make. I also wasn't aware they made Mario Kart 7 as I wasn't following the 3DS news at the time.

What I'd really love is another Metroid game, but with some classic Metroidvania style sections you'd play on the WiiU controller. I'd consider buying a WiiU if Retro can deliver something special, and they are more than capable.

I'm glad some decent developers have been hiring the Vigil Games staff. Got me all excited for whatever it is they'll be releasing in the future. :D

A Metroidvania/Fable-style game in the Warhammer Fantasy world.

A Killzone-style game where you play a member of the Imperial Guard in the 40k world.

Believe.

They didn't make MK7 as such, designed a lot of the tracks and assets though

I played StarFox 64 on the Wii's VC. I hated it. Awful, awful game. Also hated MK64.
