Love that version of the Mega CD Ad, I'd love to pick one up some day, wouldn't mind a 32X either to add to the collection. I believe you can actually get a power brick that powers all of them in one now, I'm sure I've heard it mentioned on Retro groups elsewhere.

Here's my contribution for the week, one of my favourite Gamecube games - Chibi Robo! I picked this up when it was released despite knowing very little about it, all I'd heard was that it was likely to be rare so if I wanted it, now was the time. Fortunately it was also really bloody good and is without doubt one of my favourite Gamecube games, basic visually but unquestionably one of the most charming games I've ever played. I really want to replay it some day, would love to see a sequel or a HD remaster but given the reception the (mediocre) Chibi Robo games since then have received I don't think it's very high on Nintendo's agenda

There was literally nothing interesting on there, I'm really sorry. This won't happen again, I've got something decent for next weekend...

I'd never even thought about that being a solution but a quick search shows its there. Might get one of them and a hdmi connector or similar to fire the beast up again.

I might be in the minority, but I just love the look of the Megadrive, Mega CD, 32X set up. :toot:

It's so bulky, clunky and retro...just looks so cool :)

I remember I persuaded my best friend to get a Mega CD as I had a SNES, and I didn't want him to get a SNES too

The binoculars were always completely useless, just a tube with no lenses

Ad arrives on the canvas and he's ready to dominate! Man, that Mega Drive / Mega CD / 32X setup is such a monster... it's like a technological beast that has escaped from Horizon Zero Dawn! Its appearance often causes stark divisions in opinion but I love it. For me, the model 1 setup looks far more attractive then the later model 2 gear. Great shots, Ad!

That's odd, I had only stumbled across that fact during this week, Jamo! I need to find out more about it... it seems that an American version is easier to obtain than a UK version.

That's a lovely item, dude, and one that appears to be in excellent condition. You get bonus points for showcasing your 'Robo amiibo alongside the game :toot: .

I definitely feel like I failed this week as Jawa didn't comment on my retro gubbins. You've made Loki cry, Jawa. I hope you're proud of yourself. :dread:

[Looks back over the thread]
[Sees Cora and Loki's post]

What the ?!??

[Notices that I've missed MrKirov's and Cheeky Dev's posts from last week, too]

Huh ?!??

Right... I need to make amends for this. I can't look over the missed submissions immediately but I shall do so later today. I want to get some smiles put back onto the faces of these Weekender guys!

I acquired a few PS1 games from my brother at the weekend there's nothing too special among them but I'll likely put some pictures up next weekend. The only game of note is probably Koudelka which was the predecessor to the cult favourite Shadow Hearts series.

So this weekend, I'd thought I'd show off what is one of the first videogames I ever played, Crossbow for the Atari 2600. Loved this game as a child, I remember trying to avoid the boulders flying out of the volcano, but it's really simplistic looking back at it now (as I suppose most games of that era are). Basically all you have to do is to fire at things that are trying to attack your character as he walks across various stages.

Box - Are you ready for the epic adventure portrayed?
Image

Reverse - Oh.
Image

Cartridge - Paul McCartney has popped along to helpfully inform us that the cartridges are labelled such as so when they are inserted into the console, the artwork is upside down. Odd.
Image

Manual - Why don't we have manuals any more?
Image

Pretty much none of the main artwork on the box/cart/manual appears in the game. I suppose that the character you see on screen looks most like the Robin Hood chap on the artwork, but there's no woman or dwarf. Snakes, spiders and bats are as much as you're going to get.

If you'd like to give it a go, you can do here

Wow, that's an awesome share Hyperion. I never owned a 2600 but I do hope to add one to my Retro collection some day, looks in great condition for the age and I love how the artwork barely resembles the game too, such a feature of that era in gaming.

My share this weekend is two games in a fantastic series, both of which are recent pick ups.

The first is Jet Set Radio, the game that made me want a Dreamcast, I loved the art style and it just looked so unlike anything else that was out at the time. Unfortunately I had to wait years to finally get my own Dreamcast and experience it for the first time. This isn't the first copy of Jet Set Radio I've owned, I actually got it brand new for £8 from an Amazon seller with free Prime Delivery last November. I'd bought a few second hand ones before and never been happy with the condition so having one in brand new condition was great to find.

The second game is Jet Set Radio Future, as I said I never owned a Dreamcast at the time the original was out but I did pick up an Xbox fairly early on and it was around the time they were giving away a free copy of Sega GT/Jet Set Radio Future with every system. Now I had this double pack for many years but I always wanted the separate version of Jet Set Radio Future, I'd been looking for a while and had rarely seen them in a really good condition for much less than £30 but just over a week ago I managed to pick up the separate versions of not only Jet Set Radio Future but also Sega GT 2002, both in excellent condition for only £15. Absolute bargain.

I'm catching up on a few posts that I have missed... and, man, is there some cool gear here!

MrKirov wrote:(tons of stuff!)

First up we have MrKirov absolutely demolishing our senses by sharing everything - *everything!* - that he has! That set of PlayStation games is astounding; lots of great titles and plenty of relatively rare ones, too, zuch as R-Types and Rapid Reload and Twisted Metal World Tour ( ), plus late titles like Firebugs (which is a great spin on Rollcage!). And then, following that showing, you move onto a collection of US PlayStation titles!

Cracking stuff, dude, and thanks for sharing. Maybe you could focus in on particular titles or series for future Weekenders? It'd be good to see more of them!

Cheeky Devlin wrote:Here's some stuff from me...

Here we go... Dev is prepared to mix things up! It's cool to see some PC titles here and they look to be from around the period I was into PC gaming (2002 through 2005). The LucasArts Starw Wars titles were ace and I remember being totally astounded by GTA III. And then... you take people off into a sideroom to show them your N64 stuff :o . You got a variety of classics there and, yes, those Bad Fur Day and Paper Mario packages are the big bucks items!

Great share, Dev - thanks, man.

Death's Head wrote:A few contributions from me...

Deaths arrives with a plethora of gaming goodness! It's funny how chunky the original GameBoy seems today, when it felt sleek and slim at the time :-). It's definitely a classic design, though. Unfortunately the screen went on my one and I subsequently moved over the the GB Color which I remain a fan of. It's good to see Eternal Darkness, too - it's a game hat I read so much about but, having never owning a 'Cube, I missed out on playing it.

It's cool that you included your foot in the GB photo, dude... talk about adding value to the package! Thanks, Deaths :toot: .

Green Gecko wrote:(everything in his house!)

Gecko... dude... I feel like I've been rifling through your entire videogaming history  . It seems that you may have taken photos of the entire contents of your place  . Where do I start?!?

The Mega Drive (model 1  ), the hi-fi link-up, a green N64 (with a bonus Wii U hidden to the side :toot: ), a string of lush, colourful Game Boys, a picture of Zombie Wario (!?!?), a Super Game Boy (toot-toot-toot!)... and stuff that you've found in bins. Bins. BINS!?!? You must have lived near some of the best bins in existence! Amazing stuff, man - thanks for sharing all - ALL - of it!

Corazon de Leon wrote:...There's a good amount of retro wonder in here today so I'll need a helper...

Loki? Can you help?

Loki  . He clearly has a norse for retro gaming :shifty: ... :toot: . Dude, that Street Fighter SNES set is classic. I remember how huge the series was on the SNES; just amazing. And then - SLAM! - Loki shows us the N64 carts. Oh, boy, what a selection. Your point about the Tony Hawk's skateboaring carts is interesting... did the second one really come out first? I'm not sure about that... I remember that HAwks 2 was one of the last (in fact, the last?) N64 game released here in the UK. Will have to delive into that further. Thanks for sharing, guys!

Oh, and... Loki  .

Hyperion wrote:...I'd thought I'd show off what is one of the first videogames I ever played, Crossbow for the Atari 2600...

Hyperion roars in and he is ready to share! I always like a look at old Atari VCS stuff - I never owned one at the time but I played it quite a bit at friends houses. Yeah, the boxes often had weird and wonderful art that barely resembled the actual game  . The cartridge stickers being "upside down" is a good spot - I'd never thought of that! And then - out of the blue - you introduce a guest... a star from the 60s! Bonus points for presentation. Thanks for joining in, man!

Jamo3103 wrote:...My share this weekend is two games in a fantastic series, both of which are recent pick ups...

Jamo, good to see you joining the retro frenzy, dude! Jet Set Radio... tremendous stuff. I haven't played the Dreamcast version but I am fond of the Xbox game. Like you, I wanted the "stand-alone" version of the game and I was lucky enough to get one after release for a decent price. "Understand, understand... Understand, understand... Understand, understand the concept of love!" Such great music and presentation! It makes for a great choice for the Weekender; thanks, man.

- - - - - - - - - -

Okay... right... I think I have now caught up with everything. We're only a few weeks into the Weekender and we've already seen so much cool videogaming gear. Thanks to everyone who has taken part, either by contributing or commenting... lets keep this going. After all, we've got a lot to get through and enjoy :toot: .

I really wanted to play JSR but I never got it during the Dreamcast's lifespan. I bought a copy second hand a few years ago but it didn't work :fp:

Something about those dreamcast boxes, they're so modern and yet retro at the same time

I have a line of pixels missing from both sides of my screen. Well, last time I used it, if it still works may find there are more lines missing now. When my son returns from Uni and tells me where the stash of cartridges are for it I will post up some of my other games. One is a Japanese puzzle game which may spark some interest.

I also have an "interesting" pirate cartridge with about 40 games on.

You should be able to fix vertical lines on a GB, just run a solder along the bottom of the screen on the connection tape
