There are some perfectly good third party rgb scart cables on eBay that don't go for nearly as much, try to find one of the old licensed third party ones and some old reviews for that rather than the random Chinese stuff on eBay. I plan on picking one up at some point.

So far, I have never viewed a Nintendo game through anything other than composite. :dread: not even wii, the component cable for that is still expensive too.

. :).

I like the 32X; it's a glorious example of something that was the wrong thing at the wrong time but it still had a few jewels. I love it just for Space Harrier, After Burner Complete, Knuckles Chaotix and Star Wars Arcade. The complete Mega Drive / Mega CD / 32X setup is completely ridiculous and totally brilliant.

Sure it had a few games, but it was hands down the worst thing SEGA ever did. Mega CD though

There was nothing all that wrong with the 32X itself. It was the combination of 32x, MegaCD and Saturn that did for Sega.

The 32X hardware isn't actually all that bad though. Infact, it has much in common with the Saturn.

Basically Sega needed to either double down on 32X or not release it at all.

Mega CD was an utter pile of shite, though.

I had a Wii component cable; think I gave it to my mum. :fp:

Good shout re the scart though. I'm convinced mine must be somewhere, mind.

I use a third-party component cable. Works perfectly.

Think it's this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000NUR582/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sorry, it's one for the Cube I need. They appear to be about £100.

Edit: just realised you were probably talking to GG, and that the world doesn't revolve around me.

A bit of both. :slol:

But regarding your original post: the original Wii plays GC games, so that's a cheaper way of playing them on a HDTV.

Don't be so bloody stupid.

I collect GameCube games when I can afford to. Very few of the ones I have are worth a lot of money, but I do have almost all of the Resident Evil remakes and re-release collection which goes for other £100 as a collection - RE:0, REMake, RE2, RE3 and RE4. Just need Code Veronica.

Best thing to do is to get an American Cube and component cable, that way you can actually play Cube in 480p. Pal ones can't do this.

That's not a bad shout actually; totally forgot about that. Maybe I should just pick up a cheap Wii somewhere instead. Would need to be a black one.

Would also allow me to complete some of the Wii games I still have. Never even managed to start Battalion Wars; never quite finished Metroid or NSMB Wii.

The day I sell my Gamecube is the day my spirit evaporates. I can't even comprehend not having it there for a quick blast of Smash, Timesplitters or what have you. The Wii's just not the same.

Careful of the black Wii's. I may be misremembering, but I think their introduction co-incided with the revised design that saw Gamecube backwards compatability removed.

Nah black wii's still play gamecube games. It's the sideways wii's (the ones you can't stand vertically) that removed the gamecube features.

Right, this is whetting my appetite. So I jumped onto ebay for a quick look, and found this.

"Most of the discs are in excellent condition but a couple a re scratched."

That's because you've got them all laid out on the strawberry floating carpet, man.

The point is that not all of the Black Wii's are the older design, so attention needs to be paid to ensure that it's one that still has the feature, if that's what it's being bought for.

Also, I might be mistaken - I've never owned a particularly late model Wii, but I believe that all Wii's can be stood vertically. the Internet informs me that the reference to horizontal and vertical refers to the manner in which the Wii is displayed on the console packaging. Older Wii's are shown standing vertically: Newer Wii's without backwards compatibility are shown in their horizontal orientation.

I just told you that.
The new wii models can be stood vertically but they are not suppose to be stood vertically, otherwise they'd have rubber pits on the side.

This is why I've always tried to hold onto as much of my retro games collection as possible. Emulation is a good substitute but nothing beats playing real carts on real systems on a chunky CRT tv :datass: I don't keep any of my games sealed however. That's for mentals.

I'll never sell my cubes.

Got 4 of the buggers :shifty:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RESIDENT-EVIL ... 43ce72070d

Got mine for £20 in Toys r us.

That dude is looking £100 and it's not even complete :fp:

strawberry float ebay.

Luckily enough, how I collected, and why I've kinda stopped has nothing to do with the crazy prices. I just wanted the games I had when I was a kid, which I've pretty much done, and then bought some games I wanted that I never had, I'm not really interested in collecting every games or add on for each system. I have multible systems, like the gamecube, but most of them were silly cheap and I went a little bit mad when it came to the gamecube :fp:

That being said, if I could afford it, I'd try and have a complete PAL collection for the Saturn, that would be awesome.

I've thought of down sizing a few times, getting rid of stuff that I literately never play, or played, like the CDI, or those crapy Tiger handhelds.

I'm pretty much the same Boris - I don't collect to have every game, just the games I want. My ideal 'Cube collection would have 40-50 games in it, all of which I played or owned back in the day, or at the very least wanted but couldn't get hold of(Twin Snakes).

I'm still in the market for some N64/SNES efforts as well, and some PS1 games I had as a kid. My biggest regret is selling Tombi for bugger all when I was about 13, it's so hard to find at a good price now.
