I know there is a vote in the cube thread but it wasn't going anywhere.
Anyway top pick at the moment for this is resident evil on gamecube. If anyone wants to pick a game to nominate for the next or future Grplayed just say. Hopefully we will be able to do this monthly without fail.

Is this going to be the official Retro GRplayde thread, then? If so, depending on when we're planning on starting, I'm in.

Also, I nominate Skies of Arcadia for a future one

could do the ps1/saturn/n64 versions too i suppose, but the 16 bit ones are the best.

You need to consider that Skies of arcaidia is both really rare and really long.

i could go for some resident evil, cube edition or saturn version... or ps1 version, pc version or ds version lol!

i'd pick gamecube version, its the one i don't remember it all, the changes they made, the original i can run through very quickly.

no.

unless we go really retro and play it on the dreamcast, appears to be cheaper for it than on the gamecube.

If we want to go with an easy to pick up game from last gen then I suggest we do Psychonauts (xbox, ps2 and I think PC) or Panzer Dargoon orta (xbox) just to name 2. If we go further back then we can do easy to pick up and easy to emulate titles like Super Mario World and Sonic the Hedgehog to name the most obvious. If we go more lesser known then Tiny Toon Adventures (SNES), Plok (snes) Dynamite Headdy (Mega Drive) and Aladdin (mega drive) just to name a few.

I have Plok, don't like it though. As far as random platformers go, BOB and Bubsy are better.

+1

Oh and not Psychonauts please, if I ever have to do the last two levels again in my life I will cry and then blow my head off with a shotgun.

Resident Evil.

Perfect for this kind of thing, IMO. It's fairly short and doesn't require too much time.

Second. It also fits in nicely with my plan of playing through the entire series in timeline order(0, 1, 2, 3, CV, 4, 5).

i did that this time last year over a 4 day weekend. 3 and CV gave me the most trouble, i forgot so much about CV it was shocking, properly stumped at parts. its been a while since playing the old evils, i'm up for any of the main ones, 1 preferred... on the saturn.

I'm in for Resi. I can remember certain bits of it but there's entire sections I've completely forgotten about so should be good/downright terrifying to play through again.

Bump.

As some of you may have noticed, Rubix is about to start playing through Skies of Arcadia. As it took him so long to finish Tales of Symphonia, I thought it might be worthwhile doing a Skies of Arcadia GRplayde to make sure he actually finishes this one in a decent length of time. As people have said, it's quite long and quite rare, but I'm sure that a few people still have it from their Gamecube/Dreamcast days (and with Silva's emulation thread the PC Supremacy gang might even be able to join us for relatively cheap).

What say you peoples? (Obviously if we DID do a Skies of Arcadia one now, a Resident Evil remake one would follow a few months after the SoA one is over.

If I'm honest, as much as I'd like to do a replay of Skies, with Xenoblade out in Friday and it supposedly being the second coming of console jesus, I'm not sure if I could get round to right now.
