Bringing art to the peopleGRcade's
The Watching Artist has branched out into making fridge magnets, with the idea that his unique and varied pieces of artwork could help brighten up kitchens across the globe! Having seen some of Matt's art both here in GRcade and on his art website (details below), I was keen to try these out. Could the spirit of Wario be found in these little squares of plastic-and-magical-magnetic-stuff? I placed an order with TWA to find out!
The arrivalA mysterious package arrived and, placing it upon one of GRcade's recognised favourite games, I excitedly tore it open. Out splashed four rectangles of colourful goodness!
So luscious! The stunning colours are an immediate stand-out, courting the eye with their lush vibrancy. I'd ordered four magnets:
> Zelda: Midna / Wolf Link with orange background
> Star Wars: R2D2 with pink background
> Doctor Who: The Silence with purple background
> Doctor Who: Weeping Angel with blue background
The magnets are of great quality, with the picture front having a magnetic backing that covers the entire surface. Colour and detail reproduction is excellent; all four of my magnets had a sharp image.
Stick 'em up!So they look good and feel good... but what are they like in the real world? Could they stand up to actual REAL LIFE situations? I gave 'em a good workout by placing them on my heater (kids: don't try this at home!) and on my fridge (kids: try this at home!). They looked totally ace!
Verdict: Hot or Cold? The magnets are really cool; they look great and have brightened up my kitchen. I'm pleased that the build quality of the magnets does justice to the artwork. TWA may well be a complete git when playing Mario Kart, but I gotta say that his magnets are definitely worth having!
