Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: Tactical Espionage Action

In fact the whole MGS series, as I have yet to use any tactics or indeed any espionage techniques (i.e: spying) in any MGS game.

In fact any game that uses the ':' colon for a subtitle that is not needed. Nowadays we have things like 'The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time'. Back in the day it was just 'Sonic 3'

Okay guys, I gotta address a few issues here:

1) Metal Gear Solid is totally valid and has meaning, since the story is a continuation of the "Metal Gear" series, about giant battle tanks called - yes you guessed it - Metal Gears. Also, since this story is specifically about Solid Snake, it makes perfect sense to put his name somewhere in the title.
The "Guns of the Patriots" is basically what the fourth story is about, nothing needs explaining there.
As for Tactical Espionage Action, that's not a part of the title - it's purely there because it's the genre it made up. Why do they feel the need to put it on the covers? F**k knows, they just do.

2) FEAR: Perseus Mandate - yes F.E.A.R. is a silly acronym, but Perseus Mandate is the mandate carried out by the character within the game. It actually clearly states what the game is.

I do agree about Infinite Undiscovery though, it's clearly just an attempt to come up with a similarly stupid name to rival Final Fantasy (yes, I'm aware it's the same company) and try to create a similarly popular franchise.

To be honest it might just be a Japanese translation that doesn't really work in English.

I agree about MGS although there really isn't any espionage installed. You could argue that the supporting characters like Otacon do the espionage and Snake does the tactical sneaking stuff.

Final Fantasy's name origins have a great story behind them, I'll have you know.

Copied from wikipedia

In the mid 1980s, Square entered the Japanese video game industry with a string of simple RPGs, racing games, and platformers for Nintendo's Famicom Disk System (FDS). In 1987, Square designer Hironobu Sakaguchi began work on a new fantasy role-playing game for the cartridge-based Famicom, inspired in part by Enix's popular Dragon Quest. As Sakaguchi planned to retire after completing the project, it was named Final Fantasy.[2][45] Despite Sakaguchi's explanation, the name of the game has also been attributed by various sources to the company's hopes that the project would solve its financial troubles.[5] Final Fantasy indeed reversed Square's lagging fortunes, and it became its flagship franchise.
