They do the same in MMA - just boo anybody that isn't Brazilian.

I know she was cleared, but once your name has been dragged through the mud like that I just tend to fall into the 'there's no smoke without fire' line of thinking and would feel a bit uncomfortable really cheering her across the line.

Thing is, you don't know how many other athletes competing have been involved in similar situations. The only reason news of the suspension and subsequent clearance came out is because someone passed information to the daily mail, but usually, these proceedings aren't made public.

British women in the rugby 7s just ran in a try all the way from their own 5m line. Great show, and I can't see the Canadians getting back into this. Both sides now have a player in the bin, though.

Edit: Third try. That conversion attempt. :dread:

The match I watched yesterday, none of the conversions went over, and they were all miles off target or fell way short. How can they not even make the distance on a 30m kick? Woeful really.

To be fair, the wind looked ridiculous, and with the stands being pretty low, there's no shelter on the pitch at all, so I'll be surprised if we see many conversions go over unless the winds die down for an extended period.

Well, now they're booing Serena, and she's playing an Australian (Gavrilova). Not a good look. A Wimbledon umpire would say something...

Shouldn't laugh but the Paramedics dropped the stretcher of the French gymnast who suffered a broken leg as they were loading him in the back of the ambulance. Video at the link: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/olym ... 77186.html

So close to the lead group, it's all just within reach, but are we going to see the same carnage on the last decent as the men's race?

That was awful. I hope she's OK, landed on her neck/shoulders in that concrete trench.

Feel so bad for the American eventually coming 4th after all that. Horrible to lose a medal that close.

Very much enjoying the female diving in HD. The water temperature must be a bit chilly that's all I'm gonna say about that.

What's wrong with her? She's a good host for this, I think. She's passionate about the lot, very knowledgeable, presents well. Who else would you pick?

It feels as if the only posts Lotus has made in here since the games started have been about Claire Balding or to gooseberry fool on women's events.

I bet if Clare Balding was straight there wouldn't be half the backlash against her. Pathetic sniping because the bbc dares to be 'diverse'.

I've heard any slight against her due to her sexuality, there's plenty of gay women on to now and I've never noticed any comments directed at them because of that. Me personally I find Claire Balding a little bit annoying, not enough to turn off the to when she is on. It's mainly her voice and facial reactions that annoy me a bit. Nothing to do with her being a women, nothing to do with her being gay. I also don't believe that the bbc are trying to be diverse, they just select her because they think she's good at her job.

I don't think she was chosen for diversity reasons either, but looking at various other comments boards others disagree...

Ok I haven't really read anything about her elsewhere so I hadn't seen negative comments towards her sexuality. Im sure a lot of people wouldn't even know that she was gay, she's not an extravagant gay person who you could say has been selected for shock value and to create headlines so I see no way that anyone could even accuse the bbc of doing it on purpose.
