Germany losing on penalties confirming that 2016 continues to be one of the weirdest years in recent memory.

Yes alright you strawberry floating pedants. :fp: Jesus.

Some people care about Olympic football; the teams involved and some of the respective fans, but in the grand scheme of things it's hardly a prestigious tournament and comparatively few people are bothered about it. It's not a patch on the WC Final which is what the media seem to be comparing it to.

It matters if enough people believe it matters.

I'm with you on this. Yes people might care, people have been jumping for joy at at us winning a canoeing or gymnastics medal but they forget about it the next day. An Olympics U23 tournament is in no way comparable to the world cup. Brazil will care but the commentators went a bit overboard.

Anyone else watching this now. Like strawberry float does that show his foot is over the red line. What a load of bollocks.

If Martin Rooney is to be believed then the officiating was total bollocks. The judge thinks he saw something and it can only be overturned if they can prove that the judge was wrong. Surely that's majority open to corruption. A judge can just make up what he wants then.

I agree with ROTS. Surely, the onus must be in the judge to provide evidence of what he has purported to have seen.

It makes no sense. They can just say they saw what they want in certain positions and get away with it. The judge could be right but how do we know?

I definitely saw bolt jump on a motorbike and wiz to the finish line. What do you mean no one else saw it? Well I'm going to disqualify bolt anyway.

I'm now thinking of scenarios in which Bolt would beat a motorcycle over 100m. If someone had the keys in their pockets and had to put a helmet on, could Bolt win?

If that someone was me then definitely as my keys are always in the last pocket I look in.

It's a very odd situation. She has undescended testicles and three times the testosterone as a women so it doesn't seem far to the other women competitors however to flip it round would it be fair to ban her from competiting? I'm not sure that there is a correct answer.
