This is beyond surreal.

Rio Ferdinand charged by FA for 'choc ice' tweet. Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association in relation to comments posted on Twitter. Ferdinand denied he was being racist after responding to a tweet describing Chelsea's Ashley Cole as a "choc ice". The term used relates to the black and white nature of the confectionery, and can imply someone is being black on the outside and white on the inside.

A statement on the FA website read: "The allegation is that the player acted in a way which was improper and/or bought the game into disrepute by making comments which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race." Chelsea and England left-back Cole appeared in court as a defence witness for team-mate John Terry, who was cleared of racially abusing Ferdinand's younger brother, Anton, in a game on 23 October last year. Terry has since been charged with improper conduct by the FA for the alleged comments he made to Anton Ferdinand, a charge he has vowed to contest.

Terry, 31, is alleged to have used "abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour" in the 23 October match.

Apparently he is also being investigated by the Police - what next he will be charged by them?
The Star newspaper made a big fuss about his tweet, and you could almost hear the glee in their editorial voice, 'a 'black' man being charged with racism.' I bet John Terry is laughing.

It's like the FA don't get the irony. I think I'll get my popcorn and see how this turns out, John Terry is probably over the moon now. :slol:

Back in my day the term of choice used to be 'Bounty' purely if you didn't like listening to the 'right' sort of music  :fp:

What I'm confused about is, and i might be wrong, but didn't someone else make the joke and Ferdinand was like "lol choc ice, gd 1 m8"??? Rather than Rio actually being the one that directly called Cole a Choc Ice? If that is true hasn't he essentially been charged for just laughing at a comment someone else made? As i said though i could be wrong and maybe it was Rio that made the comment.

He should just stop using twitter. Silly thing to retweet at the time. And with doubt over Vidic and Evans, plus Smalling out for start of season. It's not going to bode well with Fergie.

i want a choc ice.

i don't believe i've had one in years, didn't even think you could still buy them.

The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them in parliament.

Why would you buy a Chunky Choc Ice like that abomination in the OP instead of a regular Choc Ice or an Iceberger it you wanted an ice cream bar?

Apparently Cole's issue with the tweet centred on the fact that choc ices are quite cheap, and that he sees himself as more of a Magnum.

It's actually quite a worry trend how Twitter is being policed like this. I believe Rio even said he thought it was a term to describe someone as being fake and didn't realise the racist angle was there. Must say I haven't heard of that term before this incident.

I just wonder who is pursuing this as I doubt Cole would want to take it further. Just a complete waste of our time and money.
