They bring it up frequently, but it’s difficult to recruit someone when you can’t afford to pay them. The fact that they’re all 30 something white dudes is a result of that being who was at GT when it closed rather than anything more sinister. If they were going to get someone in I think Pamela Horton would be a smart choice, she’s a woman for one, is funny, has an audience of her own and has worked with them before. I’ve seen some of her stuff and followed her on Twitter a bit, not anymore because she gets real bloody mopey sometimes. Her games content is decent, she just needs people to work with so EZA would be a great fit.

I don’t really think they’re playing it safe. Bosman is really the only natural ‘Youtuber’, for want of a better word, in the group to produce stuff like the above. Elyse was the same and really good, but she’s never coming back so pointless to speculate on it really. They also don’t have a space to do it without hitting the goal of an office. They do some skits via Easy Update, some of which are really great (see the Animal Crossing one), but most of that is just off the cuff and when they feel like it. It must be difficult when they only all get together once a week.

They’ve had a bit of a funding dip in the last few weeks too, which is a shame because they’ve made a lot of QOL improvements in the past month. Thumbnails have been spruced up, streams have a more uniform and professional look and they’re talking about smartening up the E3 coverage too. These little things don’t really get the appreciation but it makes them look like a classier outfit than they have the means to be.

I think there was a recent Patreon post about doing more short form content like ManUps, though I was never really into it, as people have been requesting it a lot. Box Peak is the start of that and Dons new thing helps too. I wouldn’t expect too much though, hopefully they’re support builds up to E3 as they’ve been milling about 40k for a long time now. It’d be really good to see Brandon do something creative himself, he’s really talented and talks about scripts and acting and creating games etc but we never really get to see any of it. He’s the main editor aside from Ian so I guess it’s difficult time wise but I think he should just lay his chips down and write a Red Dead musical or something.

Box Peak was great.

Over the moon for them; 4K HDR Content should be possible for the future!

Can’t wait for their E3 coverage now.

They are doing a Spoiler Mode for God Of War with Game’s Director Cory Barlog for release next week. #nextlevel

Cory Barlog seems like a really cool dude.

The fundraiser yesterday was insane. They really have an exceptionally generous community, it’s really quite strange to see it all unfold. I’m sure their E3 coverage will be great as always but I’m a little sceptical this equipment will be worth the cost for the uplift in quality we’ll see. I think a lot of this is more beneficial should they ever get that studio which despite yesterday still seems a long way off. Hopefully they can leverage the likes of Barlog stopping by and recording with them to get themselves out there a bit more as they need a lot more exposure to get the 1000 or so extra Patrons they need to get a 8k bump to reach 50k

I've never tried or been into any of the Battle Royale games but Huber running around in Fortnite as THANOS is EPIC! It's implemented so well into the game, quite shocked by that tbh.

Was a fun stream.

We got another glimpse into some of the lunatics of these guys’ community this week. Somebody asked Brandon on his weekly Q&A what he would do if he walked into the studio and he found them eating his dog! Except they painted a more vivid picture.

Get this watched everyone

Bosman is an absolute treasure.

New episodes every Monday. He’s also doing Q+As on twitch after each episode.

I basically became a Patron a few months back specifically to make sure Box Peek was funded.

So Jordy's box is defective because he can hear normal frequency noises like squeaking - this will give him a huge edge in peek matches.

Ya Fink! [Bosman impression] :D

Bosman is fantastic, just goes to show how much I miss Elyse and Mandatory Update. Brandon as Phil Spencer is hilarious.

Watching some of the old mandatory updates after this and they were far more cutting earlier in their careers it seems? Ian in particular has a very different tone about him. I actually liked it, as it seemed a touch less careful and considered with some of the things said. Obviously this is played up for the “bit”, but it deffinately felt more raw overall.

Anybody still watching / following Easy Allies, now that they're into 'Phase 4'? I'm curious as to what thoughts people have on what they produce and what they do with the money / resources they have.

After a long break I've got back into listening to the podcast, Frame Trap, and Friend Code, and I watch their reviews too. Nothing else appeals though, and as someone who's not interested in streams, I can't help but wish they'd do more produced content, but they seem to have gone the other way and got rid of some during the switch to phase 4 and focusing more on streams. Plus I still can't stand Ian, and now he's on every podcast. :dread:
