It isn't a deep story. It's ultimately simple yet hides behind layers of convoluted nonsense to give the illusion of depth, made worse due to a mishandling of the concepts it tries to employ. It's shallow.

The problem with Bioshock infinite is that you could complete it circumventing Vigors 98% of the time. Badly designed gameplay. It detracted from scenes and story and pushed gameplay to being a traditional 'pew, pew' affair.

I get what your saying and I understand that killing all Bookers before the baptism choice means no Comstocks. I'm not expecting the final scenes to depict various Elizabeths snuffing out an infinite number of Bookers across the multiverse. But for me the cut scene just depicts player Bookers death as the pivotal circle breaking moment. When in fact it should be a younger Booker, one who doesn't know Elizabeth and has never heard of Comstock. Heck they could have had player Booker drowning younger Booker and then player Booker fading away from the time line. I'd probably have been fine with paradox. Maybe its just me.

The way I see it is that she is showing him pivotal points in his life, jumping him between them to try and explain it to him. Think of it like the other things she shows him, in the same way he hasn't just then decided to give away his baby or turn away from the baptism, he is just experiencing them all again in first person with his current consciousness. The same goes for the final scene where she drowns him, it's taking place in his past and breaks the loop, she's basically saved both of them from himself, as a Booker, (which Booker is up to interpretation) is later shown to have not given away his baby.

Sorry for turning this into the official Bioshock Infinite ending topic, but hell, it's better than it was the last few pages. :slol:

Fair enough. I dont think the first person current consciousness thing really helps. In fact its a very muddy way of doing it. Even some visual clues would help massively here. Seeing a younger face in a mirror/reflected in the water. Something specific like a mark or scar on the hands. Maybe I'm just picking far too much.

Still need to play the Burial at Sea eps. I've delayed playing them after finding Infinite such a slog to get through.

It's a tight co-op multiplayer experience executed completely fluently. The levels are tense, the atmosphere superbly grim, the gameplay tough and tactical yet rewarding and satisfying. The deep combination of combat and exploration, elegant decision-and-consequence based gameplay, and partial random generation of levels (combined with enemy AI that is simple yet believable and fair) make it infinitely replayable. It's one of the best games ever made.

Couldn't put it better myself. I would pay full price for a re-release with steamworks support.

I would, too.

Still play the single-player from time to time.

Got my vote.

On the one hand, apparently previous 2k ports have done really well on iOS. On the other, FPS on a device with no buttons. :dread:

All the previous 2k ports were of turn based strategy games, which work very well on a touch screen. FPSes, on the other hand, doesn't really work.

Touch screen FPSs have been universally horrid in my experience, but I'm sure 90% of the people that buy it would do so for the purposes of having it as a kind of tech demo. It is kind of impressive they can get it to run on IOS after all.
